Re: Motorcycle Tests by Biking Press

It’s all very well slagging off the bike press but they need an income to survive. They have two main sources of income: the cover price/subscriptions and ad revenues. If they criticise a manufacturer’s product to the point that the manufacturer withdraws their support they’ll need to increase cover...

Re: Bee Line navigation

Sort of on topic but I’ve noticed something that my Tom Tom rider 550 has started doing. I’m not sure if it’s always done it or I’ve just noticed. It tell me when I’ve entered an average speed camera zone, how far until the exit and what my average speed has been since I passed the first camera. Pr...

Re: Airhawk vs cheaper versions vs gel pads

What, where exactly does it hurt? Are we talking glutes, hips, back or what? Given the above with the Corbin seats and sports bikes etc suggests you may need a physio rather than a nice soft cushioned seat. Never heard anyone complain about bum ache with a Corbin. :eh: Oddly, it manifests its self ...

Years ago, my father nailed some carpet to a garage wall stop scratching the car. Seemed to work.

Re: "Understeering" on a motorbike

I got rid of a Multistrada 1260 for the same reason - far too much countersteering effort was required to keep the bike turning in a corner. I tried the diavel but found it little better. I paid for profession help setting up the Multi but it made no difference. The geometry of the bike is to blame ...

Re: Scenic App

The best app for curvy roads is Kurviger - unfortunately, Android only. Scenic 2 does a pretty good job on iPhones and, I believe, uses the Kurviger engine to generate the routes.

Re: Anyone used Knox Android Gloves?

Have a pair of the MK1s but they a) leak and b) fingers are a bit too short. I normally use size 9s and on other gloves the finger lengths are fine but on the Handroid 9s I find they are too short and on a long ride, it starts to hurt.

Itchy Boots uses a chin mount - currently a different one from that used for her earlier videos. Her video seems very stable despite most of it being taken on fairly rough roads.

Re: MCN Yamaha Ténéré World Raid brings more range, extra suspension travel, and more gadgets

OK, a long range is great but so is light weight. Add fuel capacity with something like Desert Fox fuel bladders, not dirty great petrol tanks. The time taken to refill the OEM tank from the bladder will be much needed downtime and if you want an adventure, you need to slow down.

Re: Twins - Cornering

I have ridden bikes from singles to 6 cylinders and I seriously doubt that the number of cylinders had anything to do with the handling, or if it did, it was accounted for in the rest of the design. I think frame geometry, (Head angle, fork rake, trail, steering flop etc.) are much more important.

Re: Abba stands?

Fitting kits are just mild steel. If you have access to a lathe, it's only a few minutes work to turn most of them up. One or two, like those for a Multistrada are a bit more complicated.
