I've had one for about five years - it's a cracking little camera.

It's been on bikes and bicycles, on and off road, in hot / cold / wet / snowy / dusty / underwater conditions and is still going strong.

I've got a Go Pro Hero 9,I use it as a dashcam.The quality's great but the battery life is less than 1 hour,plus the card doesn't overwrite itself so as a result it fills up quickly.

It's to protect me more than incriminate me. I ride home next to London's cs3 cycle superhighway and often have near misses with bicycles cutting across as they won't wait at red lights and don't think about motorbikes filtering. Last week a guy actually came into the side of me!

How much quality do you need?

Higher resolution will be better for registration plates, but will fill memory cards sooner. Plus, newer might have improved low light capabilities.

If you're happy to have it permanently bolted to the bike, you could hard wire to overcome battery limits. But would mean 'adapting' the waterproof case (ie drill, cable, silicone).

These days I try not to 'misbehave',but if you do,yes it will record your misbehaviour.
I bought mine after a very near miss with a complete F**kwit cycling on a country lane almost ended up under the front of my Street Triple .
Ironic really as I'm Pro cycling & spend more time cycling than motorcycling .

Dont stick it on your head. Its crap watching video that keeps jerking away as you turn your head for whatever reason. You will end up sticking a few funny/interesting videos up and if all jerky no one will watch it. You also run the risk if recording yourself speeding

Itchy Boots uses a chin mount - currently a different one from that used for her earlier videos. Her video seems very stable despite most of it being taken on fairly rough roads.

Well, I've ordered one and a chin mount, but It's not for making biking videos as such. It's really just to record who was doing what at what time, as interactions with cyclists and leccy scooters are becoming more commonplace.

It’s here! Looks a lot more compact than the old Ghost one it’s replacing. Waiting on the helmet chin mount now but hopefully that’ll be here today. It did come with a handlebar mount and a load of other stuff including a tourist stick, but if I mounted it on the bike I’d forget it and leave it in there.

I've been using the camera for a while now. I use it on a chin mount, so I can direct at anything, should the need arise. The chin mount fixes to the lid using straps around the chin bar, so not ideal as you cant close the visor fully, although it's not been an issue as I rarely do anyway.

The GoPro works well but in 4k wide view eats up the memory card quickly. So its in 1080 in medium view. The low res preview looks good enough, so I imagine the full-res would be good. I'll get round to looking at some point, but i'll probably buy a bigger SD card so I can run at 4k, as improved video quality was the original brief after all.

It doesn't record constantly, instead, it makes lots of little clips? So I guess you could lose a crucial moment? I'm not sure if that how its set up and could be changed or that's just how it is? It doesn't auto over write or give you the option to do so, which is annoying as I'd rather just charge it and record, rather than keep having to delete the files cos the "SD card is full". To delete the files through the app is time consuming and you can't "delete all"! I tend to use file explorer when its on the USB charger and delete them all there.

In summary, better vid quality than the Ghost HD by a long chalk, but more fiddly to use every day than I'd like.

I think that's the direction I'll end up going.

You'll not be missing any footage - it's called file chaptering and is designed to minimise footage loss in the case of data corruption by splitting it up into, if I remember correctly, 4 gig chunks.
