Re: Trader wants money after the deal was done

I got into a rut of reading questions like this on Pistonheads and most said you shouldn't offer any money off as they'll keep asking for more. Explain it's a private sale and block/ignore. A few suggested to offer a full refund if they returned it, which they wouldn't want to do if they're trying t...

Happy New Year! :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Had a bit of a surprise watching the fireworks... Bloke next door got shoved & locked out in the nuddy, then put a foot through his door. :eh:

Think he got let back in, then two WPCs arrived sharpish. After an hour they and his missus left.

Re: COVID and pets?????

It sounds like lots of animals can get Covid, some are reservoirs for it (deer, mink) and a few have given it back to humans. Pets have caught it from owners and 17% of cats and dogs tested had antibodies. However, I don't think it has been proven that anyone has caught it from a pet - so it's unlik...

https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1NLxrvZuYBuNkSmRyq6AA3pXa1.jpg It looks like there's a copper prong inside the slots, which can't reach the bulb to power it. The outer cover (diffuser) has copper tabs that insert into the holes whilst touching the bulb and complete the circuit  It's probably so...

Yes, caught a couple of those during my recovery from replacement hip (going well 3 weeks post-op since you ask). They've used the telemetry interrogation previously. Presumably the episode you mention is on iplayer? Looks like the airbag data is on S2 E4. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000...

Pigeons were once attached to the bottom of US Coast Guard helicopters. With training as they could spot orange twice well as humans. :angelic-green: At 1:38 in they also appear to make a handy in-flight snack, preheated in the galley oven and served in a disposable tray. https://www.wearethemighty....

Re: Show plates

Cheapskate here. Could you print the plate out and laminate it, or use the font to make a stencil and paint it (or use vinyl) on yellow sticky back plastic? I suppose you could even get a quick 3D print of each letter and glue them on, for a real 3D effect. Or even stick some on a hi-viz j...

The Crash Detectives

Interesting documentary on BBC 1 Wales (Sky CH 952, Tue 8:30). It's been going for a few years, I've probably seen all the reruns. :geek: S3 E2 was on last night. A KTM 1090 (Fowlers courtesy bike) crashed into an old couple in a Rav4, when they pulled out from a garden center. It showed how they re...

Re: Specs wearers, advice and guidance ?

I've got some thin metal clip-ons that look ok as they match my specs shape, I think they're £20 from Boots but they were on eBay for £7.50. A bit like this, there's no hinge so you don't look exactly like Bez. :geek: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0847/1344/files/spring_fit_clip_on_sunglasses_la...

Re: Wi-Fi woes…

The router hands out I.P addresses automatically from a range to the devices, using DHCP. E.g: From 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255 So the I.Ps used could be: Router: 192.168.1.1 Tablet: 192.168.1.2 TV: 192.168.1.3 But the laptop might have had an I.P address set manually in the past, which is now alre...

I was just thinking, I wonder if you could wrap a rope around the tyre and pull start it. Of course, there's a video of a chap starting a ruddy car.

Best to film this in case you get sucked up a car wheel arch and run over. :banana-wrench:

I saw that earlier on the BBC, then they updated it to say the email was only meant for the USA. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-55059696 Like Horse mentioned, there's been the Fonera/BT wifi share thing for many years. It let you connect to the net privately via other customer's wifi when out...

I've just got round to cleaning the '550W' PSU that came with my 12 year old Cooler Master case and found two of the CapXon capacitors have leaked. I remember hearing on two occasions a loud 'clap' a few years ago and wondering what it was. I've changed them out with some scrap parts for now,...

I had Amazon Prime for a month and watched Race to Dakar, it was pretty good with various mishaps. It was quite hard to hear sometimes with the generators running at camp though. Looks like it's free on Youtube, only 360p but the camera resolution wasn't great on Amazon either with the old helmet ca...
