Which One?

Post by Yorick »

I've arranged with the dealer over on Gran Canaria to fly over and test the SuperMotos :)

If I like the idea, I'm gonna buy one.

Is there any real difference between the 3 models?
If it was on looks alone, I think I'd head for the KTM (spit). And probably better resale value.

Waddya reckon?

I just read the first line of the post, I take it they'll all be supermoto versions? I just meant because the Gas Gas and Husky are on knobblys and bigger wheels

I know it's another 200cc, but is the Ducati a no-no?

Yup. I already have a powerful bike. I want something lighter and fun.

The Gas Gas, just because it's got cast wheels... I assume you can run them tubeless, they'll also be lighter.

If you're going to use it as a proper SM and take it on the dirt too, stick to the spokes.

The Gas Gas because it can run tubeless tyres, on looks the KTM, on reliability, something else entirely

Which ever colour or badge you like as they are the same bike apart from the cast/spokes wheel ;)

It's going nowhere near dirt.

Going by my EC300, the suspension and brakes are all different.

well, it's the fuel tank. So not exactly daft as bikes kinda need one. So the 'plastics' isn't a plastic in the usual sense, as it's a fuel tank over the whole back end on one side.

I reckon your experience of SMs, and 690s are 2 different things. Of the several we've had here only Taipan's had an issue. I put 15k miles on mine and know of 2 with 40k miles on them. There was a bloke on the Adv forum who put 80k miles on his Enduro. For what it is it's a tough engine and 2016s on with the different head design don't have the rockers that can fail which was what cost Taipan.

KTMs biggest bugbears as far as I can tell now is tech faults with all the gadgets which doesn't really apply to the SMs unless they have the TFT dashes as well? Or oil/watertight-ness but again not on the 690s.
