Out of the two I would probably choose the SKX, especially if you can get your hands on a J version. I've got an 009J with a pepsi bezel which tends to be my holiday watch. I've put a nice silicon strap on it to keep the original strap nice. Bit of a fiddle to set precisely (non-hacking), it hasn't got a great reserve and it's not the best timekeeper but it's got a lot of character.

Yeah I'm probably gonna go 009J with a sailcloth strap like this. This is a 007 I know, 7 is black and 9 is blue.

The link you posted to the website selling them still seems to work.

Just hope that cvnt gets the job now. Its only a few hundred quid TBF but I always struggle to justify buying shit like this :D

I think that’s a 9. The 7s have a black bezel, the 9s have the Pepsi bezel.

Good choice though :)

Url for the image ends 007.jpg :D i'm getting the blue one either way.

Edit: Actually no it doesn't, and wheely is quite right. The 007 is black bezel and the 009 is pepsi.

Today's offering.

Doesn't really get any wear time. Not a massive fan of the mesh strap. One of the few quartz watches I have.

I bought it because I like its nice clean and unfussy dial.

I watched a documentary a while back on an industrial product designer...who's name completely escapes me...who is known as Mr. Braun 'cause he came up with their whole look. Braun - which i also learned rhymes with "brown" and not "brawn" - do/did some properly cool looking stuff.

The chap himself is exactly as you'd expect a slightly pretentious German product designer to be BTW.

Edit: Dieter Rams, that's him.

SKX009J...J for Japanese Market, and the one you want for totally arbitrary reasons...for under £300. No bracelet though.

I've been googling this outfit and they seem legit.

There's also a Seiko SKX009K2 priced at 3190 TL. I have no idea what the difference is between the two for there to be that muxh difference in price but maybe someone does.

Here's links to both

*Edit* the cheaper one doesn't have the sticky out bits around the crown. :P

The only differences are that the J model has ‘21 Jewels’ under the Divers 200M, and Made in Japan at the base of the dial. It also has the weekday in Farsi on alternate winds.

The rarer J model just appeals to us snobby collectors, there’s no functional difference.

It was the one I was wearing last time we were in corner bar. If you want one but struggle to get it there, I’ll pick one up here and bring it with me next time I’m out.

If you want a decent alternative, look at the orient mako. You can pick one up from amazon £130 - £150.

Korea I think

If the model is SKX009K2 then the K signifies made in Korea and the 2 signifies a metal bracelet, 1 signifies a rubber strap and 3 signifies an oyster bracelet.

Thanks mate but I have two watches, both acceptably accurate and both waterproof - the main consideration.

I have enough stuff lying around the house as it is. I don't need more!

Popped out to get one of Mrs Potters watches booked into the Rolex shop for a service and while we were there we were incredibly lucky to be next to someone that had had a particular watch on order for many months, but then didn't want it upon trying it on.
So Mrs Potter had a quiet word and I ended up parting with a large sum of money.

She's happy though.

Haven't got round to taking pictures yet, it's one of these...
(not that actual one, that's just a googled pic)

https://www.chrono24.ae/rolex/rolex-dat ... 1.htm#gref

I suppose I could wear it as well really but it's quite feminine and looks stunning on Mrs Potters wrist.
She was actually looking at a yellow gold day/date with diamonds, but this was sitting there and as soon as the opportunity came she put the day/date down and never looked at it again, I don't blame her, the pictures don't do it justice, on the wrist it's stunning.
