Guy I work with that has a keen interest in watches has just purchased 2 Davosa watches and considering prices they are great pieces of kit - one resembles a Submariner and the other a GMT Batman. Certainly worth a look.....

Never clocked that, actually really nice. I'd never heard of them until my colleague mentioned them but must say quality is up there.....

They make their own movements now, I almost bought one a couple of years ago and I wish I had, they seem to have gone up by about 50% now - or maybe that's just UK prices vs prices here, not sure.

Blowers have this in https://www.chrono24.ae/meistersinger/m ... 967668.htm and that's a good example of inflated prices on C24 because on their website it's cheaper https://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/pro ... uto-00179/
I’ve always liked the look of the novelty watches, but having a couple (not the above), they never get any wear time. That would put me off a meistersinger.

I think I know what you mean by novelty watches, they'd be better if they put two hands on, but they're nice watches, with their own movement, and they're not copies of Rolex or Tudor, which everyone else seems to be doing.

For example, the front page of https://www.davosa.com/en/ shows a copy of a Rolex Yachtmaster, a copy of a Sub and a copy of the blue Tudor.
It's like Bell & Ross bringing out a Nautilus copy, in the flesh it's a really nice looking watch in it's own right, but as soon as I saw it I went "Is that a Naut...oh".

I don't think you can go far wrong with Hamilton at the price point, they're well respected, make nice watches and don't obviously copy anyone else.

It's pretty tough to find a watch that isn't trying to emulate something at the higher end of the spectrum, especially the Rolex clones.

The Rolex new releases were a massive disappointment today, they really missed a trick with the 50th anniversary of the Explorer, the new Exp2 is basically the same as the old one.

Even Patek were a big let down with the 5711 last year of production final model, they just stuck a green face on it, no precious metal, nothing innovative.

Explorer 2 is on my want list, was waiting to see what the announcement was regarding the new model but from what I've read little change...

Very subtle cosmetically, they've changed the 'ghost hands' and apparently done something with the case but I can't tell. And they've put the new movement in, which has reliability issues. I think it doesn't look as good, but some prefer the new one.

Tudor releases are coming later today I think.

Tudor site has crashed but I got a text with some new Daytona style panda models and a BB58 in solid yellow gold on a black leather strap.
Looks like Tudor has pretty significantly upstaged Rolex.

Do these posh watch makers set the price at the probable value, or what they can get away with?

They can charge whatever they want really, people will buy them.
A Patek 5711 is currently going for about 3x MRRP on the secondhand market, so Patek could double the price in their stores and they'd still sell.

I had exactly that a couple of weeks ago when I was wearing a Patek, I was sat opposite a bloke over a business lunch and he asked me if it was a Citizen. I said "No a Patek" and he said "Ahh, Indian brand?". Another bloke at the table nearly choked on his lunch laughing and the fella sat next to me just said "Ouch"

I've had it a while and I wasn't going to post here about it because it's not a watch forum and some take it the wrong way, but I'm particularly happy with this photo and the effects.
It's a Patek 5712g.
