Very much so. Surprisingly!

New air hoses & a couple of cheap scraper blades for my oscillating doodad which I dressed when I got them home & turned them into quality scrapers

Finally decided to replace my 20 year old Akito Mercury winter gloves. Went into J&S and came out with a pair of Richa Cold Protect Gortex. First impressions are that they are comfortable, waterproof, and warm -was out for 3 hours yesterday in temps of about 6°and went through a couple of showers so not the most gruelling of tests but it bodes well. Being mainly textile they are a little bulkier than the leather Akitos but not annoyingly so, and the integral visor wipe blade on the left index finger was useful. Overall a happy purchase at £99

Ordered a book last week. It showed up today.
"Shop Theory" From the Henry Ford Trade School. I got a paperback reprint for $23. The original was published in 1934.

Remember when mechanics had to do a proper apprenticeship that even covered machine shop lathes, mills etc & started out by telling you how to actually use a file & the first year was just hand tools, machine tools & how to use them?
This is that book. Buy it.

Finally bought book 5, 6 & 7 in Tim Bartons "Metalshaping, The Lost Sheet Metal Machines" series.
I bought the first four years ago & then the poor bugger died before the last three were published, in fact a different author did #7.

Some people had paid for all seven books at the beginning & lost out when he carked it after book #4, it took years to sort out the final printing with his family.

Well....consider me thoroughly influenced; Had a man out today to quote for fitting a water softener We're about to get two new bathrooms fitted so it seemed like logical thing to do first.

Under the counter softener, fancy '3 handles' tap which can do hard or soft and associated gubbins incoming.

Dude reckons about 25kg a quarter for a family of three. The softener he's proposing is online and tells you how much water you've got through and how much salt it's used. He showed me averaged data for people in our area to support that 25kg claim.

So... i guess somewhere between 1 bag a week and 1 bag a month... lol

The last bag (25kg) lasted 19 days - although the water here is harder than Iccy on an undercover mission!

Ordered a borescope from Amazon. Should be here Thursday. Been having a bit of a Amazon splurge lately (books, tools, clothes). All done now though.

He sent it back 'cause it doesn't fit IIRC it's the second time he's done it with that lid.

I've got the exact same one, picked it up 20% off on Black Friday.

Yup, first time was because i had the L and it was too small. This time was the XL as it hurt putting it on and removing it and i couldn't see any way around it.
I'm actually gutted about it as i'd bought it as a 50th birthday present to myself, i liked it SO much.... but if it doesn't work for me then it's pointless having the prettiest helmet i don't want to wear. So it went straight back.

TbF ive not worn mine for more than a minute at a time yet.

Even if I gives me a headache I'll probably keep it though

the Arai above was lovely once it was on... no issues there at all. It was just the taking it on/off that was the problem.
