I was going to do something similar, but Mrs Harry bought a telescopic pole with a fishing net on the end so I can scoop out petals, ants and bird feathers out on the days the pool man doesn't come.

We have one of those. Need the cover to keep the dust and dirt out. Africa is only 80 miles away and the winds from there are constant.

I was expecting to see a post from Gremlin regarding dimmer switches...
My recent pleasing purchase was a ploughman’s sandwich from the local shop, ham, cheese, Branston and coleslaw.
Bloody lovely!

We have a dirty great sand filter and a man comes three times a week with a big hoover and sucks out any shite on the bottom.
He reckons the sand filter needs changing though because it's old, I've had two quotes and each one is between £700-800 but he said with that working properly I won't need a cover and I won't need to spend anything else for a few years.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
I was talking to one of my guitar mates the other day and we touched on our first guitars, I always regret selling mine, even though it was par the course of selling/trading in and upgrading.
So I decided what the hell, first stop eBay and searched for sunn mustang, not really expecting to find anything.
Well I did, but it wasn’t quite the same as my one, HSS rather than SSS so onto reverb.
Found one that looked identical for £150. Then I went off for a little search on YouTube and to my utter amazement it turns out that they are not total garbage. I’d bought it for nostalgia not really expecting much from it.
Should be with me this week.
I’ve searched for the Kramer I had but no joy, I can’t remember the model number. My mate had the Striker 610st which I did find and always liked it but turns out that has a plywood body. I’m not sentimental enough over my mates guitar to own that one and tbh mine was a cheaper model.

Any of the Strat copy bodies will take what a strat can take. Sometimes the pick guard holes may be a little 'off',but no biggy.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
My go to home lash up/parts bin special was my usual gigging guitar and because stuff is cnc machined now it takes very little work to get everything fired together and set up the way you like.
Mighty Mite body
Allparts neck
Random eBay pickguard
Cavalier strat p/ups in neck and middle, then a fat lion telecaster one bodged into the bridge position.
Wilkinson hardware and a bone nut.
So really, you can make an allsorts and most things are fairly interchangeable.
Edit...Fender USA use imperial screws and Fender Japan use metric, but minor differences.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
I bought a Strat Highway One years ago as a guitar that I wouldn't mind getting knocked about so much.
It has Callaham hardware, some pearl tuners inspired by John Mayer (I bought a set of six off ebay, but one arrived knackered and wouldn't fit, so I have five pearl ones and a silver one).
The body is bashed about and I decided to sand it down, but then got bored halfway through and left it.
It also has super-hot pups and I turned the neck one around try and sound like Peter Green (it didn't work).
I meant it to be something that I wouldn't mind if it got lost in airport transit, or I had to dump it in a hurry during my travels - but it's my favourite now.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Finally decided to replace my 20 year old Akito Mercury winter gloves. Went into J&S and came out with a pair of Richa Cold Protect Gortex. First impressions are that they are comfortable, waterproof, and warm -was out for 3 hours yesterday in temps of about 6°and went through a couple of showers so not the most gruelling of tests but it bodes well. Being mainly textile they are a little bulkier than the leather Akitos but not annoyingly so, and the integral visor wipe blade on the left index finger was useful. Overall a happy purchase at £99

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Ordered a book last week. It showed up today.
"Shop Theory" From the Henry Ford Trade School. I got a paperback reprint for $23. The original was published in 1934.
Remember when mechanics had to do a proper apprenticeship that even covered machine shop lathes, mills etc & started out by telling you how to actually use a file & the first year was just hand tools, machine tools & how to use them?
This is that book. Buy it.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Finally bought book 5, 6 & 7 in Tim Bartons "Metalshaping, The Lost Sheet Metal Machines" series.
I bought the first four years ago & then the poor bugger died before the last three were published, in fact a different author did #7.
Some people had paid for all seven books at the beginning & lost out when he carked it after book #4, it took years to sort out the final printing with his family.
