I'm sure I've read of an American production bike having a combined brake disc and sprocket. American production bike, kind of limits it to Harley or Indian then.

Probably a belt, given KFB's observation?

I feel like I've seen combined brake/pulley setups in industry but I could be imagining that.

There's been bikes with brake discs on the gearbox output shaft too, ATK IIRC.

And proper lLandrovers has a drum transmission* brake.


*There's got to be a woke joke in there.

The classic Jaguar back axle had inboard discs, did it not? They must have made thousands of those.

Mine (well, it was actually a Daimler Sovereign ;) ) certainly did and that was back in the 1970s.

How do you change the pads? Presumably you get in through those 'windows' in teh black subframe?

No...you drop the whole assembly ( or lift the back seat and cut a hole in the floor).
Rover 2000's were similar but easier to service.
