You'd be better off improving the ZX6 with better suspension, but I think whatever you do you're just spending money for the same of it, why not have a nice holiday?

Bah, not feeling aftermarket TC at all, otherwise I'd just fit it to hers and save £4000KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 5:13 pmhttps://www.reactiveparts.com/bazzaz-z- ... 06-12.htmlweeksy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 3:18 pmNo TC fitted to Triumphs.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 3:05 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-DAYT ... You're using man logic to reach the conclusion you want... the MV.

Not in the slightest. I honestly couldn't give a toss if it's the zx6 at Portimao and next year, it's not my bike, not my money.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 5:19 pm You're using man logic to reach the conclusion you want... the MV.

But I do have a certain level of input in the decision of course.

Re: If the question is "what's a better trackbike than a zx6r?"
Ah, that brings back memories!
Jock Kerr was a seller of go-faster (but usually slower ) bits for mainly Hondas as I remember in the 70s- you could buy turbo kits, big bore, exhaust systems, and believe it or not and small-bore (seriously- to reduce your 400/4 down to 250cc so you could ride it as a learner) and another assorted "tuning" (lol) bits - most of them weren't great quality as I remember....
Edit:
P.S. My 10 bobs worth on the OP is forget about changing the ZX- just fit a quick-shifter - seriously, she loves that bike, it's a good un, and she will love it even more with a QS, I guarantee it or your money back!

Well the zx6 isn't staying forever, of that we can be sure. So it's also about buying a new toy to some extent.
I'm not saying it'll be swapped before Portimao though

There is of course the left-field option we're ignoring here.
The Aprilia RS660
https://www.aprilia.com/gb_EN/aprilia-rs-660/
First revealed in Milan at the 2019 show, the RS660 stole the headlines as a modern equivalent to the RS250 two-stroke and a step away from a litre sports bikes, to provide something as comfortable on a twisty A road as on track..
Weighing a claimed 169kg, the 660’s parallel-twin engine is derived from the front two cylinders on the RSV4 1100 Factory but in this chassis, used as a stress member, it’s paired with an aluminium twin spar frame, before being finished in a set bang up to date but still V4-inspired fairings.
The headlamps are completely new and are fully LED incorporating a distinctive Daylight running light design and cornering headlights. Expect a TFT dash up front, too
Producing a claimed 100hp, the most ever achieved by bike in this class, Aprilia have also equipped the bike with a ride-by-wire throttle and a six-axis IMU – so incorporating all the features of Aprilias class leasing APRC system to get the best out of the bike for both track and road riding.
Cornering ABS
Traction control
Wheelie control
Up and down quick-shifter
Engine braking control
Three road riding modes
Two track riding modes
Cruise contro

I'm pretty certain he also made kits that made your 250cc bike into a road legal 125cc bike by replacing one piston with a dumb weight, and removing the carb and blanking off the inlet tract. I can't find any evidence of this on the internet.
This was about the time that the 250LC came out and the ensuing moral panic. Do Sidewinder sidecars need explaining in a another thread?

Re: If the question is "what's a better trackbike than a zx6r?"
From what I've seen/read I reckon the ZX6 would be better and faster on track than the 660. You'd get the electronics but would have thought it was a step down in other respects.
I noticed in the most recent FEC podcast Martin Fitz-Gibbons said he was all set on a deposit on a rs660 but isn't now from what he has seen of the finish in the flesh, a quick ride and Neeves's test.
In fact id say get a RSV4 but then you are looking at monster horsepower.
