You'd be better off improving the ZX6 with better suspension, but I think whatever you do you're just spending money for the same of it, why not have a nice holiday?

Not in the slightest. I honestly couldn't give a toss if it's the zx6 at Portimao and next year, it's not my bike, not my money.

But I do have a certain level of input in the decision of course.

Ah, that brings back memories!

Jock Kerr was a seller of go-faster (but usually slower

) bits for mainly Hondas as I remember in the 70s- you could buy turbo kits, big bore, exhaust systems, and believe it or not and small-bore (seriously- to reduce your 400/4 down to 250cc so you could ride it as a learner) and another assorted "tuning" (lol) bits - most of them weren't great quality as I remember....

P.S. My 10 bobs worth on the OP is forget about changing the ZX- just fit a quick-shifter - seriously, she loves that bike, it's a good un, and she will love it even more with a QS, I guarantee it or your money back!

Well the zx6 isn't staying forever, of that we can be sure. So it's also about buying a new toy to some extent.

I'm not saying it'll be swapped before Portimao though

I'm pretty certain he also made kits that made your 250cc bike into a road legal 125cc bike by replacing one piston with a dumb weight, and removing the carb and blanking off the inlet tract. I can't find any evidence of this on the internet.

This was about the time that the 250LC came out and the ensuing moral panic. Do Sidewinder sidecars need explaining in a another thread?

From what I've seen/read I reckon the ZX6 would be better and faster on track than the 660. You'd get the electronics but would have thought it was a step down in other respects.

I noticed in the most recent FEC podcast Martin Fitz-Gibbons said he was all set on a deposit on a rs660 but isn't now from what he has seen of the finish in the flesh, a quick ride and Neeves's test.

In fact id say get a RSV4 but then you are looking at monster horsepower.
