The stepson again!
His life is based on style over substance.
Swmbo let him borrow the UK car whilst we were over in France.
He fitted new bonnet and wheel badges, shiny new number plates, fitted new covers onto the key fob.
He failed to notice the broken front spring, the bolloxed alternator, and the fact that shortly (immediately)after he fitted a new cover on the key fob the central locking stopped functioning.
New alternator fitted, springs on order (can't fall out so safe) and finally stranded in middle of town because the key finally decided to unpair itself from the ignition. Had a look inside the fob and numbnuts had not fitted the circuit board properly so crushed the -ve terminal and it had drained whatever power it held in a capacitor. Had to jury rig a bridge and then press the lock button until the key re-pairs with the car. I've reseated the circuit board properly now, but the terminal snapped the moment I touched it.
New key is £25, recoding it is £200+
Numbnuts doesn't know where the spare is either!
Then the cheeky cunt asked us to front him £1500 for a 760 estate!

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
My dyspraxic fuck up fairy struck again today I now have two skinned knees and a skinned elbow
Luckily I walked down the road rather than the track, but a moment of looking at the view instead of concentrating on walking and I managed to sort of turn my ankle and landed on the road FFS
Luckily no one drove ow cycled past until I'd righted myself and picked myself up off the road
But seriously - I can't even walk down the road without hurting myself
At least the walk back went ok! I don't think I'm going out when it snows!! Far too risky!

The lack of availability of mustard cress. Salad cress is just pointless.

Quote me Happy, and/or getting old!
Bastards wont even get me a quote, most insurers are fine, as are MoneySupermarket and Comparethemarket, but Quote me Happy prefer to not quote me cross.

Of course I just carried on as before, so the fecker hasn't really healed up.
My missus reminds me that if I'd done as I'm told then I would have been pretty much ok by now.
It seems my propensity for stubborness is inversely related to my ability to heal as I get older.

The PR overload around the new Gladiator movie. Fuck me, if I see another article shoved in my face about how Paul Mescal bulked up for the role, or how historically accurate the scenes are or even how the two films differ in terms of how masculinity is perceived in the 25 years since the first Gladiator, I may well run myself through with a sword.
Puts me off going to see the fecking film.

Cultural my arse.
Other teams should be allowed to moon them, or mockingly 'wank on the back' of a teammate as a response.

Two things that have probably been mentioned:
- people in cars who are turning right at a T junction and don’t position themselves on the right of the lane (enabling others to turn left)
- people who hold their phones out in front of them whilst on the phone.

Appraisals and all the management speak bollocks that goes with them! In all the years I've wasted my team doing these things no change has ever come out of it, not that i've wanted change which is why i cant answer career development questions as I dont want to develop it. At our place they are just a total waste if everyone's time.

I only ever wanted to be above the sack level. Didn't want to work hard. Just wanted to keep my job.Taipan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 5:01 pm Appraisals and all the management speak bollocks that goes with them! Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I'm sure there's a point to them somewhere, but they've not acted on here no matter what they say. Due to dept changes, line and senior management changes etc i've not even set/been set objectives etc and every time I've put down training requirements, its not been made available to me. But once again I have to go through the charade of filling in bullshit to no avail. My new line manager and dept head assure me that wont be the case and my employer is answerable if it doesn't act on things. Yeah right...Yorick wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 5:05 pmI only ever wanted to be above the sack level. Didn't want to work hard. I can beat that. We have 'Salary Dialogue Meetings' which should take an hour. It's where I sit with my staff and we have a two way exchange about the rise they're getting (or not!). It usually goes like this:
Me: Thanks for your efforts, your salary is increasing by x%, which equates to £y.
Them: OK.
Me: Still got 58 minutes. How's the kids getting on at school?
Dialogue, my arse.

I'd like to see the English rugby team watch the Haka then respond with a Morris dance. It's traditional, innit?

Generally I'm in favour of appraisals but I'm not a fan of how they are constructed, nor how the results are analysed and actions appropriately taken.Taipan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 5:01 pm Appraisals and all the management speak bollocks that goes with them! My gut feeling is that it's just a mechanism primarily to be used against poor performers, to document that they were given multiple warnings and opportunities to improve. I'm convinced that the results of the majority are just filed and used to build some pointless KPI to wave at the CEO.
