Thinking you are about the same age as I am, so guessing you'd still have another move or maybe 2 in you after that one? Looks nice for your current life but can imagine life there as a crusty with no kids about, it would feel very different.
I suppose with more moves in mind then it's not so critical.
I don't think I've got any more moves in me, it's hugely stressful, I don't mind swanning around the world but my UK home is "home" and moving home isn't something I fancy doing again.
We wouldn't have moved where we are now when we had a young family, the decent estates are brilliant for that, all the kids can socialise, but we didn't ever want to move again after this one and we wanted somewhere that would suit us better.

Lived in a couple of places in the zone for a few years (worked in Ruabon). In the end we moved as close to Chester as we could afford at the time. Got a bit of a shock when I looked at the Google maps satellite pics of the places we lived recently. Lots of new houses and supermarkets etc. Had a weeks holiday up there about 5 years ago wondering if we wanted to move back. Spread the net a bit wider and included Shrewbury and other places but decided not to move eventually.
It's a decent area, close to Chester is good and there are still plenty of rural little villages, plus you've got Oulton on the doorstep.
I'm not sure how long it will stay nice though, as you said it seems like developments are growing like ivy.
