Re: What have you done today thread?
Tried to explain to several nurses that the rambling, incoherent old fella they are treating is not how he ever is/was.
I tell them my Dad is as sharp as a tack at 92 and the fact he is lying talking bollocks is a fair indicator that something is wrong, usually an infection of some sort or another. I get palmed off time after time about how old folk get confused in hospitals and it's nothing to worry about.
I explain he's been in hospital since July 13th and hasn't been confused up until now. Has he had blood tests to rule out an infection? Yes he has apparently and no infection detected.
The 4th person I ask,a junior doctor, informs me that he has a chest infection and has started a course of antibiotics....
I know it's a popular notion to be seen clapping the frontline NHS workers for the great job they are doing, but for the above and many other reasons I'll not bore you with here,I'm finding the NHS to be as disjointed and incoherent as my old Da. Mismanaged, inefficient and the best we can hope for is we never need them. If you do,take notes and names. I am.
Sorry for the boring offload, but I'm coming close to the edge of my limits.

That sounds exactly like the issues our dear old neighbour had when he developed sepsis, My Mrs has to work very hard at getting sensible info out of the NHS and really struggled trying to make sure he was looked after properly. I hope your father has a speedy recovery.Skub wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:58 pm Tried to explain to several nurses that the rambling, incoherent old fella they are treating is not how he ever is/was.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Today, I have waited or a phone call from the hospital for them to decide whether my broken left forearm is likely to be okay just in its cast or else better to have a plate put in? They had a group discussion abut it and opted to go for surgery, hopefully tomorrow if a bed is free? They are not hanging about so I have had to quickly prepare a go-bag for hospital even if, as they expect I'll be home again the same day! Having seen orthopaedic surgery [though in animals] that is an impressive turnaround! Although I am immunocompromised by some other therapy I am not worried about the surgery itself, except for the risk of infection, but most concerned about the disruption of my training programme for next year's time-trial season! But I can't ride, never mind race, until it is fixed so surgery t has to be. o doubt I can be reporting back later after the op is done!
Cheers all until then...!

Re: What have you done today thread?
We've had our site AGM this evening. It was as usual a bun fight and although I avoided getting elected as manager again I have volunteered to be the new manager's assistant.
I was manager for 6 years, sorted out a lot of legal issues, got all owners paying their site fees on time and developed a good working relationship with the maintenance company. A lot of that has gone silly over the past 2 years since I 'retired' and I certainly didn't want the hassle of being responsible for sorting it our again, but assisting the new manager? I think I can do that OK without destroying my life.
The new manager is Turkish, which is only right and proper but we have already fallen out. Sort of. I maintained he should be paid as he's not a property owner (he lives here all year in his mother's house) and he says categorically that he doesn't want to be paid. I still think he should. We'll be sitting down over the next few days to do a budget and I'll have tweaked the spreadsheet so he (or his mother) won't have to pay the site fees. I'm pretty sure that all other owners will back me up on this. The ones I spoken too think it's a good plan (and legal )

Letting it rust and rot is neglect. Not washing is just delaying removing the dirt.

Not neglected at all - its a car for my wife to use for work, its serving a purpose just like a tool. If neglected it wouldn't be maintained etc....

Bought my Son a iPad. He asked me about one and are they any good etc. He's 26 now and probably with more disposable income than me lol ,so i don't really buy him prezzies anymore, but I smashed it out of the park with this one, even though he doesn't get why!

Took the bike to Canterbury Cathedral, free parking and quicker by far than the trains.Had a great day there and then a quick ride home. i'm getting to enjoy this bike rather more than I expected.

I have a mate just like that. His take on the matter is,"I'm not keeping it good for the next owner".
He's pretty good to his word.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Fitted a fridge freezer. Second one in just over a week as I eventually got the other one uplifted.
Not really impressed by the new one.
It’s a Bosch. Fancy folding shelves that are going to be difficult to clean as a fix for a problem that doesn’t really exist. Cheap crappy covers for the fixing mounts that don’t stay clipped on. Single salad drawer that’s difficult to remove if like mine it’s installed against a wall.
It came with fixed doors (which to be fair I knew about) that are more complicated to fit and of no benefit that I can see.
Anyway the wife’s happy so that’s all that matters.
