Original piston without puck: 30.62mm
Original with puck: 34.75mm

New, without puck: 31.67mm
Will that still work, or is there a risk the pistons could pop out when the pads get low?

Look where you want to go, because you'll go where you're looking anyway.
Revs stay at 3k, use clutch and foot brake control speed.
You'll get it.

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

BW do a secondary baffle to go in the other end of can

You'll always lose some performance by sticking a cork up the exhaust. Potentially you can end up with something that's both more restrictive and worse sounding than stock.

Nonetheless if the noise is doing your head in, watch this. Not ...

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

Q...can I wrap the baffle on the monkeys black widow in wadding to make it a bit quieter. ?

It's about 6/8 inches long with holes, but the inner end is blanked off so gas needs to go through these holes that would get wrapped. Iykwim.

If you want it quieter, add one of those catalyst looking ...

Re: '83 GPz750-A1 malarkey.

Annoying thing being, plenty of those bikes got scrapped or are sat somewhere rotting, with that bracket perfectly intact.
TBF, you did set yourself up for this by choosing to restoring a 43 year old bike.

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

VFR pipes are significantly more complicated than bending up a link pipe or riveting a silencer together. But I easily see where that mess would put a fella off a brand.

You wouldn't only lose power with that, those one or two cylinders trying to fart out that hole would not be happy at all.

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

I never look further than the Black Widow site. They last and hold up well for year round commuting, and an end can is normally around £200.

Their stuff is kinda basic with old school clamps and hanging straps rather than springs and welded on brackets, but it does appear to be cheerful.

They ...

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

I guess there isn't the demand that there was back in the pre Euro 3 days.

They've got to make back those R&D and tooling costs somehow, and if it isn't by selling at volume then it's got to be higher unit prices.

It may be that demand is lower. There's certainly less of the auld culture that ...

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

I paid just under £500 for an arrow can for the wife's Honda Rebel. That bike was so quiet it was apologising for polluting, now it sounds like thunder with all of its 47bhp going straight through unsilenced 😜

I like Arrow exhausts too, but they've missed the mark on their offering for the KLE ...

That great bunch of lads do loads of cheap copy ones....

Aye, and I'm certainly seeing the appeal. But they've not caught up with the KLE yet, too new.

For now I'm rocking an old Quill T3 on a link pipe meant for a cb750 hornet from said bunch of lads. It doesn't look terrible, but the can ...

Just the can!

I'm not looking at a full system, as removing the catalyst will definitely cause an engine light.

How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

I'm not sure if I've grown tighter in my old age, or if motorcycle exhausts genuinely never used to cost so much back when they all looked like bean cans with drain sprouts welded on...

Leo Vince has announced their attempt at an exhaust for my KLE, and it looks good to me.

Re: Indicators not working on Aprilia Falco

You don't need 55 watts, 10 watts is quite enough. Yes it won't be putting the same current through but enough to check that it's not just a phantom voltage. Not rocket science.

Depends what you're checking. On my g650gs there was a corroded connection inside the headlight switch, it could ...

Yes, put the bulb on a longer wire and don't look straight at it. You don't much want to be holding it in your fingers anyway, they get very hot, very quick.

Re: Indicators not working on Aprilia Falco

Thanks for the update. All you need for circcuit testing is an old bulb in a bulb holder with a couple of flying leads maybe .5 metre long and crocodile clips of the ends. Another useful tool is a metre of cable with a crocodile clip each end for bypassing dodgy connectores etc.

I'm glad the bike ...

You're in the desert, right? Anodising loominum parts is essential if they'll ever see salt, but maybe optional where you are.
They'll look nicer if they match each other though.
