Re: Help Me Build A Bar
Any bars on the island being refitted for the summer season? Maybe some skip diving and architectural reclamation for some fittings.

Another vote for CAT.
I was impressed with the premise of these https://filia.solar & [url] https://powerroll.solar/power-roll-part ... power//url] but I don't know anyone who can talk from experience.

Re: Old lids
Give the liner a bit of a clean; last time I did helmet removal (with the Fire Brigade) some of them were a bit choice (tacky to the touch and a bit malodorous). Cast your mind back to school when you had to borrow gym kit because you'd forgotten your own.

Difference between having spares and hoarding?
During the last lockdown I looked to have a clear out of stuff in the garage. I'd never really considered the amount of ironmongery I had as I thought I was being prudent in having stuff to hand and over the years I just accumulated more with different projects/jobs/houses. Weighed it as best I can ...

Re: Social housing investment
It depends if you're looking at long term and how much you want to make. A mate of mine and his sister were requested a house from their godmother. Both of them (at the time) earned good money and were in their family homes so they put in trust for their kids and leased it to a Housing Association (...

Ruroc Gear
Any good?
Spec seems good but I'm cautious about buying online only when I'm not used to the feel and sizing of the brand, particularly when its reasonably pricey.

Re: Radically different helmet design
Interesting. It might have been on TRC or elsewhere but i remember reading about manufacturers looking at shear plastics, when they were being used more for body armour, but the potential weight was an issue (although it would have made a smaller helmet shape and profile). Things have moved on.

Re: Scrap VAT on motorcycle gear!
If I walked away from a high speed off and the kit was annihilated I'd feel it had done its job, low speed I'd feel a bit ripped off. It wasn't so long back that leather manufacturers in Pakistan, supplying European brands, would stretch hides to make sure an order was completed. Unsuspecting punter...

Re: Job satisfaction and happiness... is it all down to money ?
Golden handcuffs. I know quite a few people that have ended up in senior management with a big salary and hate what the job but the salary affords them a big house, holidays, cars, bikes etc. Just biding their time and building their savings while they wait for an early retirement offer. A lot of th...

I shift work so am on the bike at 0500 sometimes, aftermarket can for the weight saving (yes I could just eat less) and a baffle to keep the neighbours sweet Apparently one of the most popular things about Hybrid Ferraris, McLarens etc. is the fact you can leave silently. People in expensive countr...

Used to have SOLAS tape on the panniers on the Tiger. Often felt a nudge on the bike when filtering at night where riders had tried to filter past but failed to see the panniers (seriously poor obs).

Re: Fence pricing
The chap doing my folks' fence has stopped taking fencing work on (he does landscaping and garden services); I asked him if it was the increased cost and delay and he said it was the abuse he got from quoting for work (I gather he uses more premium product which hikes the price from suppliers before...

Re: Pub plans, who's out next week then ?
Went past one of my locals tonight, not one person in the garden! :eh: My old local had about 20 people outside. Bit of a damp squib really. Mind you, that'll suit me at the weekend, although with it being warmer, i suspect Saturday will be a different story? Went past one of the nearby pubs tonigh...

Re: BBQ thread
Can anyone recommend bean burgers that can be put on the BBQ without falling to pieces? Planning to have some in-laws round next week and they end up with corn on the cob as our attempts at finding bean burger that hold together are doomed to failure. If anyone has a recipe that works I'd be keen to...

Re: Has electric killed off biofuels?
I'd like to think both are still viable routes. I do agree about crops should be grown for eating but with a lot of agricultural land being turned over for solar farms I'd hope there could be an option for some crop, maybe not food grade, could be grown alongside covering both bases. A friend of min...
