Pub plans, who's out next week then ?
So pub gardens open tomorrow, but personally i won't be partaking at the moment, our local pub beer is average and the better place at West Berkshire Brewery will be rammed until, well, who knows, forever...
I'm planning on an early finish at 3pm on Friday and heading over to WBB for 2 pints and a pizza as the wife and boy are away, but other than that, i've not really planned it much yet.
You ?

Re: Pub plans, who's out next week then ?
I don't go to the pub often anyway and contributing to yet another surge on Covid infections doesn't appeal to me at all so I'm happy to give the large social gatherings a miss this year.
I'm just not social enough to feel like I'm missing out on anything.
There's enough opportunity's to catch and pass it on at work but at least I get paid for that.
I'll likely go camping a few times up in the hills with a mate or two but thats mostly a different situation.

Don't like pubs to be honest. Too noisy for me. There is a café not far from me that is very nice and services really decent food for not too much money, so it is well frequented by the locals, but is not over crowded. They do have a license for booze too, so I'll be able to have a craft beer or two...

All our 'eat and drink outside or takeaway' places have just closed again

Bugger the pubs - expensive beer, usually crap food, kids running wild, loud music and/or sports TV. If every boozer in Britain stayed closed I wouldn't miss them.

LOL you go to the wrong pubs. I don't think any of our 4 locals even have a TV in them.

I have friends who are itching to get back to the pub. WBB is on their list too. But I'm not desperate.

Nope.
I have booked a holiday let in July, which is on pub grounds, so I think I'll hold off until then.

Saturday club will be in full effect next week! Me, F-i-L, Son, Nephew and whomever else is down there. I shall be guzzling draught lager like a footie hooligan!

I'll have a pedal next weekend and hopefully a pint or two in the Tiddly beer garden, Ellerdine. Aka The Royal Oak.

Lockdown again by June then ?
Some of us can be trusted but a lot can't, I don't get the rush to get pubs open tbh.
I'm fairly settled in seeing friends outdoors on mtb and for walkw etc, haven't been in a proper shop since last Feb and happy doing on line shopping now. I miss meals with friends and foreign holidays but they can wait. Opening the pubs seems to be a British thing that has to be done, I'll wait and watch it all on the news as crowds gather and have to be moved on

Our family haven't got together since last March, so I'm really looking forward to it and of course a pint of draught lager. Here it will be dependant on the weather though and I'm assuming its table ordering with contactless payment. I'll not bother if we have to file through a pub one way system. We'll know more by the weekend of course, but fingers crossed!!

The bars are very quiet here coz there's no tourists, so easy to social distance.Taipan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 4:50 pmOur family haven't got together since last March, so I'm really looking forward to it and of course a pint of draught lager. I'm sat outside now watching game on a big screen under shade cover.

Last time I visited a pub was last summer on a ride out to Tideswell and that was only for a cup of tea. I'm in no rush to visit any pub wherever it may be. Glad I'm a teetotaller.

Re: Pub plans, who's out next week then ?
Wifey works in the pub in the next village. It's owned by a local family with plenty of money but they haven't been idle during the lockdowns. They've now got an established shop on the site, something the village hasn't had for many years. No chance of a takeaway delivering this far out so Thursday, Friday and Saturday they've been running a pizza business, all wood fired and super tasty. They're looking forward to opening and should hit the ground running so to speak despite the best efforts of the local Police. The rozzers have been visiting every pub and pointing things out, see those shelters you've installed in the garden, you can't use those type of visits.
I know of one local pub that were told by the Police to expect several visits a night to make sure their garden shelters weren't being used, they've decided to stay closed. This is East Herts. There's pubs close by in Essex and Cambs with the same setup that have been told they're good to go by the Police there.
My local is part of small chain of 5 pubs. It was sold prior to Covid but the new owners pulled out of the sale, the old owner has done nothing. It's an empty shell waiting to be moved on. He has been on local radio to complain how his business has been ruined, mostly of his doing I think.

Re: Pub plans, who's out next week then ?
I'll be heading to the local for a few this afternoon. As much to show support as anything else. They are going to be very limited (especially as it's currently raining!) as they won't be able to do the food they are very well known for.
I'm not a big pub goer (in the UK) but I have got to know the couple that own the local and I'd hate to see the business 'fail'.
