Re: Energy bills
I haven't seen any bills for my new place yet but I'm not looking forward to them. It has huge rooms with high ceilings and drafty sash windows. I went in the loft and in some places there's no insulation at all, just rubble and builders waste. It's listed too so can't be changed much. My brother in...

Fwiw I really like the look of the Desert X.
I've made a lot of rational vehicle purchases but the best ones have been where I just followed my heart and got what I really wanted.

3.5 years later, nothing has fallen off, broken or leaked. After wandering around the NEC for 4 hours last week and sitting on 75% of the bikes on show there was nothing that compares, nothing that'd make me ask what I'd get in trade. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51374641980_b6dc103c5b_o.jpg...

According to my 'socials' it's been the press launch today. I'm expecting reviews form all major outlets, shortly. Have you seen the shot of someone exiting stage right on a mountain road during the jolly  https://i.postimg.cc/bwcwnsHt/A5-E8437-B-39-A4-4820-86-B6-7-E8-B78-AAD5-C1.png Neeves ...

Re: New bike(s) day
Those Harleys, they cost too much money,
A small bike was all he could buy,
He covers it up on his driveway,
And if anyone saw it he'd cry.

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?
That's not what the national grid reckon. The peak was actually 2002, not 2016. I remembered it wrong. https://www.nationalgrid.com/stories/journey-to-net-zero/electric-vehicles-myths-misconceptions So how come the National Grid is concerned about blackouts THIS winter, not if/when we all are force...

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?
I'm guessing it wasn't at night. I've posted on here before the paper from the National Grid which shows (in the UK) that even if everyone switched to an EV tomorrow demand would still be less than in was in 2016. Why 2016? That's when UK consumption peaked. If everyone switched to an EV and all of...

Waiting for the darkling earth to rise up and crush us to its harsh bosom. :( We all are. It is the way of things. The days of our kind are numbered. The one god comes to drive out the many gods. The spirits of wood and stream grow silent. It's a lonely way, the way of the necromancer. To know too m...

The holy grail of self indulgent anecdotes...
Sometimes someone will attempt to indulge themselves at your expense with a lengthy anecdote of theirs.
The best response is to retort with one of your own which somehow trumps or betters theirs. Maybe to such an extent it belittles them due to the disparity.

Re: Qatar World Cup
The state of human rights in Qatar is a concern for several non-governmental organisations, such as Human Rights Watch, which reported in 2012 that hundreds of thousands of mostly South Asian migrant workers in construction in Qatar risk serious exploitation and abuse, sometimes amounting to forced ...
