Re: Nice stop over between London and York.

Can't particularly recommend anywhere fitting that bill on the far side of York, but the A1 is shit. Watch out for camera vans on all motorways, particularly from overbridges. Similar if you end up on the A64 or A19.

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?

I've gone for a petrol car this time round, on a four year lease. I'm doing fewer miles than in previous years - my previous four cars have been diesels.I I think by the time my next lease is up, the position will be clearer around hybrid electric cars and/or hydrogen fuel cells. I don't think plug-...

Re: What have you done today thread?

I feel like its lazy policing to hit targets and probably used as a revenue stream although I don't know the financial stats of that. Dumfries and Galloway are bad for it as well, Durham and Northumberland less so. But that said, I’m not sure there’s many countries that haven’t taken advantage of t...

So what's the weekend bringing ? Rest. We returned yesterday from a lovely week in Devon, which was lovely - near Honiton, lots of thatched roofs, pleasant countryside and great weather etc. More sandy beaches where I live though, and the roads were terrible  I'm amazed some of those farm ...

On my mountain bike, yes. Useful on the rural roads I go on, where there no footpaths but plenty of horse riders and pedestrians.

I keep meaning to fit one on my road bike too. I was a bit surprised it didnt have one from new.

Re: New year new plan. Bit of rowing.

Been mostly cycling lately but fancied a row this morning and took 45s off the 15km (not really 15km) time. Incidentally, what sort of stroke rate are you sitting at? I've mentioned on here some time ago, that I'd bought a CII, it took me a while to refine my technique (with some prompting from an ...

Nothing major planned (obvs) - get the kids out for some exercise today, it's cold but still. Due to turn colder again overnight though

Off til Tuesday, which is nice. It'll give me chance to catch up on house and garden.

A couple of contentious decisions. First try was fair enough, England caught napping. Second try LRZ and me both thought it was knocked on but the TMO and the ref thought it was ok Wales supporter here, through grandparents rule  The first try shouldn't have stood. The referee called time ...

No but it's surely only a matter of time :o

Getting down towards 2mm left on all four, really notice the drop off in how they deal with wet conditions.

raises the question why were there so many plod there - were they having their own picnic or just there waiting to nab the first person that turned up. Total guess, but if the police attended in advance, then it's probably a spot which attracted crowds of visitors, local and otherwise, during previ...

I sold my last bike about five years ago. No time or inclination for another - shifts, young family, not enough hours in the day etc.
