Re: varifocals

I've been a speccy-four-eyes since I was two years old so wearing any kind of spectacles is normal for me. have used varifocals for a few years for general life and took to them immediately. I got them because I was having increased difficulty reading instructions and maps when on my bike, particula...

Did it still have its standard spec auxiliary braking equipment, ie the wooden wheel-chock?

Re: Lockdown Nov 20, what are you doing ?

At some point you need to consider quality of life, do you carry on being locked down forever or do you make the decision to take a few risks to enjoy what you can with the life you have now? Everyone has a different view of what is a good quality of life. I've never needed to meet many people or m...

Re: Lockdown Nov 20, what are you doing ?

I'm a retired old fogey and selfishly spoiling young people's lives by not having died yet. Although I have no known health problems, because of my age, apparently I'm in imminent danger of death if I do catch the virus. In an attempt to stave off the virus for as long as possible, I'm doing as befo...

Re: Reversing prang

As wheelnut says, your policy normally only covers you for third party when driving someone else's vehicle, ie the legal minimum for driving on UK roads. Not relevant in docca's case but it's worth anyone doing this to check what their policy actually covers. Third party cover on a vehicle owned by ...

Re: Anybody had a wisdom tooth out later in life?

Just a little mumsy-type warning. If anyone has toothache/mouthache/faceache* for an extended time, go to a dentist. If there is an infection it can become an abcess and will attack the bone adjacent to it. The infection can also spread to other parts of the body via the bloodstream. The jury is sti...

Re: Cold out!

Had to head over to Cambridge from Colchester this morning for work so thought instead of driving I'd take the bike. Grabbed my big Alpinestars jacket and my winter gloves thinking I'd be fine - 45 miles later I'm bloody frozen! Think a new winter jacket and gloves shall be ordered!!!! Perhaps you ...

Re: Anybody had a wisdom tooth out later in life?

I was in my 20s when I had all 4 impacted* wisdom teeth removed. My dentist extracted them with an anaesthetist giving me gas so I bad no idea about the hammer and chisel, the pliers or the foot in my chest as he pulled them out. I suffered no after effects and was eating my tea two hours later. Not...

The Boss Man called it purple so, being a mere pleb, as far as I'm concerned, that's what it is. You're just jealous.

Until reading this thread, I'd wondered why some members' usernames were shown in blue. I thought I was a subscriber, having sent £20 via PayPal back in March but it appears I am wrong. I wonder who I actually sent it to.

Re: What have you done today thread?

I have a small garden which I try to keep fairly wildlife friendly and, therefore, don't use any pesticides or weedkillers. Any deading of living things has to be done manually and normally only to those who are actively chomping all my fruit and vegetables. I'm happy to share but if they don't leav...
