Re: You're Not The Man Your Father Was
The flip side of all the research (belatedly!) into menopause, hormones and the effects that lack of hormones has on women is that there is more research into hormones and the effects of those on men in later life.
All of this is a good thing as far as I can see. As we live longer,(in general) the quality of life for many goes down - physical and mental health. We all realise that this is the normal but often it is to excess. Replacing hormones reduces the chances of dementia, bone crumbling etc in women, I know that there are men's issues that can be treated by replacement hormones.
I have a male friend who was started on testosterone for a health condition (he's in his 60's) and he found that it helped his general well-being, mental health, mental abilities as well as the condition it was prescribed for. (Apparently his sex life was rejuvenated as well!!
)
Most doctors still treat the symptoms rather than look at the whole patient (menopause can present as fibromyalgia for instance - but treatment for that doesn't work as it isn't that!) - so if you are 'of an age' and have symptoms, do some research as it is possible that hormone depletion could be a reason!!
Sorry - hobby horse n all!!
But, reading some of the threads on here, I'd say there are quite a few of you guys that are high on testosterone!!!

Re: You're Not The Man Your Father Was
I'm happy with my drop in testosterone as I've got older, I'm no longer constantly aggressive, no longer put women into the categories of "shag" or "wouldn't shag". My life is better for my drop in hormone levels, when I was in my 20s I had serious problems controlling my emotions.
BTW, my father was an idiot for his whole adult life, worse than me for acting on emotions.

Re: You're Not The Man Your Father Was
Wouldn't surprise me at all if my testosterone levels have dropped over the years, and are now low. I haven't had it tested but I get most of the symptoms of it. One of those things you put down to old age, or at least getting older.
I think the whole men's health thing is many many years behind. A lot of it is cultural as well. Man up and all that stuff?

There's two main problems I think - the first and possibly biggest is the cultural MTFU stuff but also that people just accept that getting older will cause problems for healthNordboy wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:26 pm Wouldn't surprise me at all if my testosterone levels have dropped over the years, and are now low. But in a lot of cases, just replacing lost hormones can have a MASSIVE effect on quality of life, so shouldn't be written off - for men as much as women

The court order put a stop to all that for me.

It’s only a five year ban and it doesn’t appear to include gimping and writhing in daytime.
Among the restrictions imposed, Hunt is now banned from:
Being in possession of any type of mask or face covering in a public place, including whilst in a vehicle in a public place, between the hours of 21:00 and 06:00 unless officially required for medical purposes or by law.
Wearing or being in possession of black all-in-one garments in a public place, including in a vehicle in a public place between the hours of 21:00 and 06:00.
Crawling, wriggling or writhing on the ground in a public place whilst wearing a full-body covering, clothing that appears like a full body covering and/or mask/full face covering.

Re: You're Not The Man Your Father Was
If I was one of the jurors (or even in the court in any capacity) I'd have had extreme difficulty stopping myself from laughing out loud as that little lot was read out. It's more Monty Python than Monty Python. Although any python would automatically break the terms of the sentence by 'crawling, wriggling or writhing on the ground', of course...JackyJoll wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 4:35 pm

I'm usually in bed by 9pm, but if I'm doing something for a thrill then I'd be miffed if I couldn't do it when it upsets people the most.
If he moves to Shetland, it’s dark at 3pm in winter.
Of course they’ll kick his head in, so his cost/benefit analysis is not a forgone conclusion.

I normally turn it up it louder so i'm defo 10cc+Potter wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 8:38 am A chap that I know said that by 2030 a 40-year-old man will have 50% less testosterone than a 40-year-old man in 1980, so I thought I'd have a look and apparently the science holds some ground.
This is a simplified explanation - https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilhowe/2 ... ather-was/
Low testosterone can explain a lot of issues with your health and mood.
However, too much can also be a problem, I went to have mine tested recently and I'm right at the top end of the range (e.g. if the range is 300-1000 units then I'm at 990 units) which can present it's own issues. When it was explained by the consultant it answered some questions as to why I have certain issues, e.g. the more I work out and stimulate more testosterone the worse my insomnia gets, resulting in me being constantly tired and irritable, more testosterone can result in more aggression which I have to suppress in order to get along ok at work and home, and then I get mood swings.
Anyway, it's worth a read and worth getting tested.
Hopefully!
Being more serious, that also sounds like me Iccy, i have a baseline where i love everyone and can understand differences in opinions then other times when i just want to go on a killing rampage!

Dunno Daz. Strangely enough too high testosterone levels are associated with infertility/low sperm count. (Steroid users get similar effects - increased muscle mass, shrivelled balls and a constant strop).Mr. Dazzle wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 7:47 pmNot enough, evidentially.MyLittleStudPony wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 7:46 pm Just breaking your balls Iccy, just breaking your balls!![]()
