I've had this 10 years now - it is a project without end, but it is real motoring!

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Went out today and started in sunshine. By the time I got to Gleneagles a cold drizzle had set in and the clouds started to look as if they were bearing snow.......here we are at Gleneagles: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50796509582_8fdc86712f_c.jpg IMG_20210103_143709714_HDR by Joe Lamont , o...

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Happy New Year to you all.....if the rest of the biking year is as good as today it'll be a cracker! In the slanting sunshine here we are taking a break at Comrie, parked in front of a rare domestic building by Charles Rennie MacIntosh. The only drawback to the day is washing the bike down afterward...

Re: Cars on your want list?
Its the old car character thing - a bit like bikes with 'character'. My Allegros have no power steering, no electronics, and you have to work at driving them! So they they give you a sense of occasion - indeed if you get back all in one piece, a sense of satisfaction! So a car for the want list........

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
This was a trip to Perth and I got parked really easily. Last time I was here there was a box van parked right across the motorcycle bay. I was mollified to see a parking ticket on his windscreen! Had to find another parking bay however! This is a good way to do Xmas shopping, but the roads round he...

Re: New to me road signs for motorcyclists
I haven't seen these signs, and the ones illustrated show no indication of an impending corner. On the face of it they could be warning riders to avoid potholed road margins. Some Highland roads have very rutted and uneven margins - good enough to have you off if your speed was up. I must say, comin...

That's Loch Turret - well hidden between the hills. The snow is a great supply for the Loch as its a reservoir providing water right down to Grangemouth....

No quartic wheel...this is a Series 2 1500 built in Seneffe in Belgium. The UK built ones are generally regarded as better......Interestingly it came from the factory fitted with a Ducellier distributor which was a dodge BL had to overcome the effects of the 1977 strikes at Lucas https://live.static...

Re: Historical vehicle information?
As I understand it you need the V5 showing the 'Historic' tax class before you can drop the MoT. If you have the standard V5 the DVLA computer will simply do the automatic insurance and MoT check before you can re-tax the vehicle.
Oh, and Austin Allegros are much maligned, but there's only 280 left!

Re: Historical vehicle information?
Yes, that's right you have to wait to the beginning of the next year. I had my 1979 Austin Allegro all ready to apply for historic status in October 2019 but in fact had to wait until 5 April 2020 before I could apply. When I did I ran into Coronavirus which slowed the whole thing up for 6 months bu...

Re: DVLA V5 waiting times?
I think anything handled electronically works really quite well and quickly. Anything that is paper based can be a nightmare. I applied for one of my Austin Allegros to have 'historic status'. I submitted my V5 at the post office with the relevant forms on 5th March 2020 (that was good timing!) Just...

Today I took the new to me Gladius out for a run to Loch Earn. Here we are just at dusk and the Loch was all quiet. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50341900603_3ec610ac6a_c.jpg fullsizeoutput_58 by Joe Lamont , on Flickr Well, the Gladius is great fun, very tractable and flickable! Yes, exactly the same experience here, and like you, we've just shut them down altogether. I didn't like the run around we got on their website trying to close the Prime account......

What will 3k get you?
Well its been a while since I parted company with my Triumph America and there was a bike sized space in the garage. I've had some fun perusing the ads and in the end I came down to saying to myself 'what can you get for 3k?' Well the answer is really quite a lot. How about a 2004 GS1200 on 56,000mi...

Re: Dementia/Alzheimers memory loss calculations?
Hi, Sorry to hear about that diagnosis. The decline of memory is a tragic thing. Nearly 5 years ago my sister was diagnosed with vascular dementia. I remember going to the hospital with her when they conducted a series of tests, some of which were very revealing. In one she was asked for as many wor...
