What will 3k get you?
Well its been a while since I parted company with my Triumph America and there was a bike sized space in the garage. I've had some fun perusing the ads and in the end I came down to saying to myself 'what can you get for 3k?' Well the answer is really quite a lot. How about a 2004 GS1200 on 56,000miles? Not fancy that? try a 2007 Bandit 1250 with 20,000miles. No? An Aprilia Shiver 750....a bit exotic? Of course you can have the run of 5 to 7 year old NC700/750, ER6, SV650s and the like. In the end I went to the local bike trader who bought my America and he has a good selection. My choice? - well I signed up for this today:

This Suzuki Gladius 650 is on a 63 plate with 14,700 miles. New tyres, chain, sprocket, pads and discs.....all for £2995. Well I'm happy - at least I think I am, because I have never had a middleweight like this before. My idea is that this will be good on Highland roads where I found the America cumbersome. I had a Triumph Speed Triple before that and its suspension was really punishing on those roads. I see people hauling about on big BMWs and the like, and just thought it would be more fun on a lightweight machine. Well time will tell but for now all's good!

Looks like fun for the roads you will be riding. Enjoy!

I reckon you'll have a lot of fun on the back roads on that and I seem to recall the Galdis (sorry couldn't help it ) had a slightly higher spec than the SV's before and after it in terms of some parts. Owning a lightweight bike myself I really like the ability to throw it around in the twisties and the inability to do really bonkers speeds. I some times hanker for something bigger, flasher, faster but come back from a 2 hour ride on local b-roads and find I've not done over 85mph so why bother. Enjoy
