Oh, I know they're atrocious on fuel (a lot of the V8s have been LPG converted), but I don't do that much driving these days so it's more a case of wanting it more than needing something practical.Mussels wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 2:58 pmI had the next version, was a really good car but by heck it drank petrol fast, think single figure mpg as normal. Friends with an XJ said the same about theirs and it wasn't the V8.Rockburner wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 2:49 pm For a long time now I've had a hankering for a '90s Jeep Cherokee (XJ). They come up at 2-5 grand on ebay every now and again and I sooooo nearly click the button.
eg this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/jeep-cheroke ... 3047082662
I have passing fancies as well*, but that one has hung around my neck for a good few years now, I can see myself getting on next year.
* Lottery list includes a Blower Bentley, Aston Martin Virage (the silly 600+bhp one), etc.

Excluding the ridiculous ones, Stratos, 6R4, the only one I'd like is an AZ1. Ridiculous in it's own way, I'm not small and it's a Kei car.
But it's got gullwing doors.
Other than that it's vans all the way, and I don't want a flash one of those either.

Re: Cars on your want list?
A V8 of some kind - I really the Jag XK and XF or even a Vauxhall Monaro
Nissan Skyline R33 GTR or R34 - finding an unmodified one is near impossible
Ford Focus RS - same as the Skyline really.
Ford Focus ST
VW Golf R32
I'd love to trade in my Fiesta but I reckon I'd end up with a pup 'cos I have no idea about cars.

Oh yes they did, from the early 1.6 onwards. Never an official gt6 soft top though.Julian_Boolean wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 1:39 pmI worked with a girl that had a Herald soft top, don't think they made a Vitesse soft top, I think the body wasn't strong enough for the heavy 2.0 6 cylinder engineNoggin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 1:33 pm I've always wanted an AC Cobra. And a Triumph Herald (Vitesse I think as I want the soft top!!)
Modern cars - I'd love an MX5, such fun on the stoopid curly roads up here!!
But, for now I need to try and get the bike mended and find a place to keep it! and then get a car for work
J
But I'll keep dreaming about the three cars I'd LOVE!!

Not into cars really, but just had the idea of summat with a V8 and big fat off road tyres.
Did 4 hours off road tour this morning.
The Duster is very capable, but a V8 might be more fun.
Hmmm. Let's go look on T'web

Honestly? A Citroen Ami 8.
I've driven a lot of quick cars and they're a bit meh, maybe a decently unmolested Evo 8 or an old 70s 5-series, think it was the E12 if I actually wanted to go over 60.

I've got an itch for a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. I always have had that desire as we had one (actually a four door wagon) when I was a toddler. In spite of the fact that my fingers got slammed in the doors by older siblings on countless occasions. Fuckers.

Its the old car character thing - a bit like bikes with 'character'. My Allegros have no power steering, no electronics, and you have to work at driving them! So they they give you a sense of occasion - indeed if you get back all in one piece, a sense of satisfaction! So a car for the want list.....an Austin Princess 2.2HLS rust free........not so many of them then!

If I lived in your fine lands, I'd have a 50s Chevy 5 window pick up, but pref ably with more modern running gear and a small block!

Better with a Honda K20a in it. That's the 200bhp 8000rpm engine from Civic Type-R for those who don't speak car nerd.

Re: Cars on your want list?
Once had a BMW Alpina B10 which was silly quick but I never got nicked.
Now got a10 year old Mitsubishi L200 Dual cab pickup truck, works for me.
Don't want anything new packed bang full of electronics.
Best car I ever had was a Mark1 RS2000, now that was a tool.

I rebuilt the motor on one of those in Birmingham uk...it had been imported as a wedding car and overheated. The 50lbs of californian sand in the water jacket may have had a part in that.
