2022 RTTL Pembrey trackday extravaganza. Sept 2/3/4
Re: 2022 RTTL Pembrey trackday extravaganza. Sept 2/3/4
Is there a level below novice?
For me being my first ever track day and coming all the way down from Manchester I am going to make a weekend of it. I'll stay over at the local Premier Inn on both nights. Leave early Friday and take some nice roads down, then home on the Sunday. I'll be traveling light of course, and hoping I don't get a soaking on the way down and my leather end up a soggy mess for the main event.
I don't really drink much these days, but I'd be up for a BBQ

You'll be fine in Novice, if anyone doesn't give you enough space, kick them in the balls.
Seriously though, anyone with any experience and sense will instantly spot you're a proper novice and give you loads of space.

Re: 2022 RTTL Pembrey trackday extravaganza. Sept 2/3/4
As per my PM the other day.. If it helps we can chat to Alan and either provide you an instructor for the first session, who will follow you for half of it and lead you for half of it, both wearing yellow bibs so people know to pass a bit more politely. (Or i'll take the job on if he'd prefer)
Although it's never been a problem yet and at a guess i'd say we've had 20+ from TRC/RTTL who've never sat on a bike on track before arriving at Pembrey. The great thing for you is, none of this is unknown to us and won't be to you. The night before, we'll all be in the pub having orange squash (stop laughing back there) and we'll talk through anything that worries you, we'll scare you senseless with some stuff and banter, but there'll be all the information you can ever need. The odds are that @Alan PBTD and his wife are likely to be there for a beer in the pub too, so any question you can also ask him in person.
The morning before, we'll check things like your chain tension, tyre pressures etc.
IF you feel the need, then PBTD provide a suspension service you'll be able to book, which is not only great for track, but for roads on the way back too.
Over the years we've done things like you post your tent/kit in a box to my house, i'll bring it to track which means you need to load less stuff, i had Mr OCD (Claudes) tent in my loft for 4 years !!!! I brought it every year and took it back home for him until the next year.
I don't care if you drink beer or water, it's still a Tenner we've had some funny people who've turned up to tell me they only had 2 sausages and should only pay £3....
When you get to know me in person, you'll work out how that went down with me and the reply they got
As much as the trackday, many of us go to see mates.. obviously a lot of us know one-another so there's a bit of a barrier to get past for some newbies.... but stand round, talk rubbish and throw a few insults about, you'll fit right in. @Dodgy knees used to be a newbie, he's now granted onto the Whatsapp group... that's a leap !!!

The organisers are really hot on picking up people not being respectful to novices in that group and I've see them take a special interest in looking after people who were nervous and slow in that group.

If anyone wants any camping kit or beer taking from Newbury so you don't have to carry it on the bike on the Friday and bring back Saturday evening I can take it if you drop it round.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:33 pm Over the years we've done things like you post your tent/kit in a box to my house, i'll bring it to track which means you need to load less stuff, i had Mr OCD (Claudes) tent in my loft for 4 years !!!! On a personal note, I always led the pupil at first so he didn't need to worry about which way the track went and also showing the basic lines. Then we alternated laps. Just my 2p

BTW Al Fagan has just posted a video on 44 teeth youtube channel from Pembrey circuit. Well worth a watch if only to hear big Alan's dulcet tones over the PA system, noone says "Novice Group" quite like Alan!

Re: 2022 RTTL Pembrey trackday extravaganza. Sept 2/3/4
There's been a heck of a mix of bikes over the years from our crew
From the Gilera you posted, to things like @Beancounter Beanies BMW thing, not forgetting the H2 thing of yours and throwing in the BMW that @IanB went 20 times faster on track than we've ever seen him.
Throw in the year of the 790s lol....
In a way it saddens me that we only have a 'core' group who come year on year, but it does sneak up and down a bit which makes me happy
One day, we'll get all the sneaky 1 year guys at the same one.
I can't wait to see who turns up this year and on what. I can't see there being any major changes in our house....but i can see a few random bikes as always.

Put me down as coming for the BBQ please Weeksy.
I don't fancy carrying a load of camping gear on the Griso so is there somewhere within an easy taxi of the track that would do to get my head down in? And will it be OK to leave my bike at the track overnight and pick up in the morning?

LOL put yourself down
1. There's plenty of B&B's not too far... 5-6 mins in a car. (or post your camping kit to one of us who has a van going)
2. Yeah leaving bike is no problem....

Yup, as Weeksy says- won't be a problem leaving the bike at the track at all, and I'll be there for Friday and Saturday, and won't be camping , so most likely will be in the Premier Inn in LLanelli thur/fri night or maybe one of the slightly closer couple of Pembrey / Burry port Hotels/B&Bs on Saturday night if there's a BBQ so will be able to help with lifts or shared taxis etc as relevantDitchfinder wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 9:42 am Put me down as coming for the BBQ please Weeksy.
