Take a CBR, make it slower, then add 20 something grand to the price....Skub wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:57 pmAnything with 'Kawasaki triple' seems a licence to print money...well,to ask for it anyway.Bigjawa wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:19 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274508706950

Don't like them, worst of the GSXRs, they ride long and heavy, the YZF in the background on the other hand.....KungFooBob wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2020 10:32 am I want, no, need this.

I've no idea what i'd do with it, I just want it.
I need to work out how to sneak it past the wife before Julian buys it!

I dunno. People tell me it’s a very enjoyable engine to use on the road and I’ve no reason to disbelieve them.Rockburner wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 6:21 pm

I've not ridden a Rapide, but the Comet was nice, if much heavier than it needed to be for a 500 single.JackyJoll wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 7:02 pmI dunno. People tell me it’s a very enjoyable engine to use on the road and I’ve no reason to disbelieve them.Rockburner wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 6:21 pm

I can’t see where the frame is “butchered.”
The pics are a bit indistinct, but it looks like the in-unit Vincent gearbox has been sawn off the back of the engine and an AMC gearbox used.

Do you mean where they 'droop' when it should be straight?Rockburner wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 12:19 amLook at the lower rails.JackyJoll wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:48 pm I can’t see where the frame is “butchered.”

The only KTM I've ever owned, the KTM parts were actually very reliable, unfortunately the White Power parts weren't

I mean where they've been cut away and the mounting plates welded in.
This is (a copy of) a Featherbed frame:

now - compare the the lower parts of the frame rails here :

It's not necessary - it IS possible to get the Rapide engine into the frame without cutting the rails (albeit hard work)

First bike I ever crashed was an L reg FS1E when I was 14. An older mate offered me a go on his one on the local playing field. Forgot the left hand lever was the clutch and not the rear brake (I had a Mobecane field moped at the time), and instead of slowing it just kept going. Through some bushes and a wooden fence panel.Taipan wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2020 5:46 pm My first road legal bike, although mine was an Lreg but same colour and rack etc.![]()

No damage to the FSIE, but I ripped the bottom of the leg of my loon pants.
