First up was the ZX6R. Nothing major at the moment, just an ACF-50 over all the metal parts really to keep them nice as it's laid up over winter.

Still not sure on the longer term plans with @Welsh Muffin and this bike, so i've not bothered whipping the wheel out for powdercoat yet. If it goes to MSG for servicing over winter then he'll get the wheel done at the same time, so easy there... If it's getting sold instead, then i'll pull the wheels and get them into the powder coaters in Newbury for tidying up. I don't get a lot in the way of feedback though so it's tough to say.

I'll have a little think about the fuel in the tank, it's about 3/4 full if not a little more and hasn't been run since Aug... it won't move again now till April i think. So whether i go down the route of draining some out and filling with new stuff, or whether i buy some fuel stabiliser, or whether i just leave it as it is.... Not sure yet.
8 months is a long time to be laid up.
First nice day, take it for 15 minute ride. :)
Ummm errrrm, do i have to :(

Can't i just come up with the other plan instead of having to ride it....

When you say nice day, have you forgotten UK versions of Nov>March.... nice days, well, i'm not sure they actually exist.

If it makes that much sense, you come and ride the thing. Maybe i'll do a raffle, first prize gets to ride the zx6 for 30 mins... 2nd prize has to take it out for an hour.

I wouldn't fit on it, bars to low, footpegs too high and the tank would stick into my stomach

You worry about things far too much. ;)

First time I rode my CBR it had 3 year old fuel in it. The next time I ride it the fuel will probably be 5 months old. Still runs like a sewing machine (except at 7000rpm, which is nothing to do with the fuel :D)

Get some stabiliser if you like, I can't imagine any one brand is spectacularly different from another.

Well as it only gets used on track and each day at Silverstone comes in at £300 with everything in there, then I have to give things thought. It's not like when you're nipping to the shop and it runs badly. If it's not 100% then it's a £300 day in the bin and me on the shit list as a bad spanner monkey.

That might be fun, aiming for all the puddles and shit strewn goat tracks. I reckon 10 minutes would mean hours and hour of cleaning.

You could leave your bike with him to clean while you take the ZX6 out

Drain ZX6 and put it in the car. Get 10 litres of Esso super (no ethanol) and jobs a good un. Maybe run it for a few mins to get the non ethanol into the injectors etc. Should be fine in 5 months

Weather forecast doesn't look bad this week, Steve.

If you don't fancy it, I could pop over one afternoon and give it a run up the A34 which would mean it won't get as dirty as running around the lanes.

Yeah I'm taking the mt07 out for a play tomorrow/Tues. If you fancy an hour I think I'll be out about 1:30 after meetings

Unless I fit the plate hanger, mirrors etc the A34 wouldn't be the best idea :banana-wrench:

You know i would take all three prizes on that one ........... i will happily ride it, you can enjoy yourself cleaning it afterwards ;)

This was at the end of a Jan the 1st New Years Day ride out and looking at the front lights you can see where the heat baked the salt on the normal dipped beam light

Dragged it out of the garage as it was fairly warm and sunny. Not dry enough on the roads to go out and play but thought i'd at least get the stabiliser through the system fully, so ran it for 10 mins outside... Started first press of the button. First time the key has seen the bike since Pembrey in Aug. :)

Just booked it in at MSG racing for a couple of weekend time for full service.

I could arguably do it all myself, but this way I'll get a stamp in the book and make sure an expert has looked it over fully.

Will be curious to see if valve clearances are in or out of spec. May get the steering damper rebuilt too as the adjuster doesn't do much.
