The GPZ900R used to leak fuel past the tap and fill a cylinder, cue hydraulic lock and a bent conrod upon start up.

Had a look last night.

With the bike upright the sight glass was more than full.

Pulled the filler cap off and it smelt of petrol.

There can't be more than a litre or two in there, but I suppose I should change it sooner rather than later in case the ethanol starts eating stuff.

If by sooner rather than later you mean 'today' then yes...

I'm just checking stock of 10/40 in the local Halfrauds, it'll probably get done tomorrow morning if I pick some oil up on the way home.

Castrol Power One is on offer, only a couple of quid more than own brand.

I'd still drain it today though... ?

Drain it as soon as possible, it's better with no oil in it than having contaminated oil in it.

If I run it long enough and it gets hot enough, the fuel in the oil will just evaporate off, right?

<this is a joke>

I suppose I might drain it tonight, but it'll seriously eat in to my Elden Ring time.

I'd buy the cheaper oil and the Castol. Do an oil change, run up to temp a few times to flush everything and then change again. Petrol is a degreaser isn't it? Can't be good for an engine.

Don't run it, just drain the oil and change the filter.

It's a four again!

I think I found the carb with the sticky float, I think I'd disconnected the vacuum pipe on pot 4s carb by accident so the tap wasn't working and was running on the fuel in the float bowls... Except pot 4 which must have had an empty float!

1992, the last of the Oil Cooled GSXR1100's.

It's only got 13k miles on it and yes, it's in excellent condition, thats the reason I paid way too much for it :)

MOT passed, fuel still in tank, lots of comments about how nice it is, hit 140mph on the Goldthorpe Bypass. All good.

Just got back from the MOT, the milage is a bit embarrassing, I really should just ride the bloody thing rather than worry about wear and tear.
