It's only a teeny bit pink: GSX-R1100N
Thought I'd do a new thread because I'm an attention whore.
Nice early start to go pick the bike up from Rite Bike at Bradford, it's only two months since I put the deposit down. It's proper tipping it down, great start to the day!
Got there, did all the paperwork, slung my leathers on, then tried to put my brand new one piece Dainese over suit on over the top, that my mother got me for my birthday last year... which I'd never tried on and didn't fit over my leathers, guess that's me getting wet then!
I dunno why people say they're big and heavy, it's a teeny wee thing.
I really didn't fancy the motorway so I came home on the back roads which were busy and all 30-40 limits, that combined with the brand new tyres and the wet roads meant I didn't really push it until after Wakefield (where I managed a ton on a 50mph section of the A61, oops).
Impressions so far.
It's a pussy cat, it's much more comfortable that I thought it was going to be. I'd say it's a nicer riding position than my old 98 Blade.
The gear change is a bit clunky, I was wearing my brand new boots (first time on a bike), but I think there's something could be done to reduce play in the linkage.
The brakes are so-so, didn't really push them in the wet. They've replace the black 6 pots with some gold ones, they said they put new seals in the black ones but still couldn't get them to work.
They've put Pirelli Diablo Strada's on it, they felt fine in the wet, but I know nothing about them.
The suspension coped very well with the potholes, the rear is a bit soft, but I'm sure it just needs a tweak, the forks felt pretty good (but we'll see what happens when I try to push on in the dry).
It got covered in road crud, I've hosed it off and put it in the garage, I'll give it a good going over tomorrow, have a look under the panels, etc..
I'm very happy. Just need some nicer weather now!

The gear shift should be nice, the gear box on them is usually dry good, make sure the clutch hasn't got air in the hydraulics.
Those 6 pot brakes are a bit shit, the 4 pot Nissins the older bikes had were superb.

I'll let the pads bed in (they're brand new) and have a proper play in the dry before swapping them out. The black ones looked nicer than the gold ones it has on now, but hey ho.

I've just had the belly pan off, it must weight as much as the whole fairing on my old Blade.

New boots are the worst thing for a gearbox.

Indeed, one of the reasons why I preferred the 11 to the 750, the 750 has the clipons under the top yoke.asmethurst99 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 4:59 pm Happy new bike day IYSWIM - looks a lot better in daylight

I had a panic the first time I used the indicators, thought I'd blown it up.

I think today might have been the first time in 29 years that it's been ridden in the rain...

That's very clean, shame about the pink bits
Diablo Stradas are at the touring end of sports touring tyres but they're fine for road riding for most people. I never had any issues with them but I'm not a racing god

This just appeared on Friendface. It's a year older so doesn't have the shell suit paint job, but mechanically they're identicle.
It doesn't look in as good nick as mine and it's a private sale...
That's £1500 more than I paid for mine at a dealers!!!!

Happy new old bike day
Looks fairly tidy for something of that age, but 12600 miles over that period of time is cock all
Enjoy

That looks like it’s had a load of weeksy clones looking after it, it’s so clean!
