Optional V&H pipes as part of the deal and I’ve already ordered a Tec tail tidy and smaller back blacked plate, but I’m not sure it needs much else - it comes with nice touches such as bar end mirrors, led indicators etc. as standard . I’ll probably look at some luggage options at some point though (Hedon and Becker have some nice stuff) .

I really want something that I can take off road a bit in the peaks etc, but won't become a chore on bigger road days out(not that I do many) or on a 30 mile commute, so somewhere between a proper trail bike and a huge adventure bike.
There aren't many options really.
690 Enduro. Same power, less weight. More maintenance depending on your mileage as valves are every 6k miles but other than that ideal.

I have a BMW F800R Sport with all the extras and really enjoy riding it, but, I really fancy a Ducati monster 821 new model.
This will be my 2021 bike I think.

I've watched most of the reviews on this and there are no really negative comments from anyone. My Tiger is in for a service at Blade Triumph in Swindon tomorrow morning, might see if there is one available for a test...

How many more sleeps before it arrives? :)

I did the whole “read all the reviews and road tests after I’d bought the bike” thing... I was pleasantly surprised at how positive they all were. It even achieved Bike magazine’s Bike of the Year last year- all of which is not helping with my impatience to get it!

It’s looking like it’ll be in the dealership tomorrow and ready for collection early next week. Apparently they’ve been rushed off their feet with bike sales - they had sold 70 bikes this month when I bought mine last Saturday, and speaking with Darren yesterday he told me they did another 13 this Monday! Clearly the economic downturn isn’t impacting bike sales at the moment

I turned up at Blade Triumph in Swindon this morning in torrential rain, hoping they would have a jet ski loaner for me!
They didn't have a Speed Twin available but gave me a 765RS Street triple.

Conditions really aren't ideal conditions to test out supercorsas, Ohlins and top end Brembos! :D :D

Bloody lovely bike though and hopefully I'll get some dry miles later and go a quick report.

Tempted to get a test ride on this. Not really in a position to buy a bike right now, but the 1090 appeals in many ways. Sounds like good fun whilst being lower maintenance than the 690 and better over distance without having massive power or weight. It'll feel like a tank compared to the 690 though so only a test will let me know if it's one to consider. Might give Jason a bell.

TBH they don't feel quite as massive and bulky as you'd think. It will feel fairly normal in many ways.

I've only ever sat on my neighbours 1190 R which felt MASSIVE and weighed a ton. But it does have the off road 21 inch wheel and a ton of extra kit and he'd wacked the preload to max as he'd been touring with a passenger. I could barely get my toes down. Looks like the R is 40mm higher seat height. But his put me off a bit so be interesting to see how different the normal 1090 is. LampChop raved about it which is what interested me in the first place.

Need to see if I get any free time Sat to go a get a test if I can.

Same as it's been for a year or so, actually. Tracer 700, 2020 version, or Guzzi V85TT. I'd have to buy it new, though, and I can't justify it for the time being.

Oh Boy!

I've got the Guzzi V7 and an RE Bullet 500 EFI.

I love the Guzzi, it's a minter and characterful to ride (but the suspension is shite on anything but the smoothest roads).

The wife hates it. She has a few medical issues and hates the seat, the ride, the pegs, everything about it. She loves the Enfield, it's slow, comfy and relaxed.

I like to ride alone, but I also like to share the experience with her too. She's told me I can never sell the Enfield, it costs buttons to buy and run.

In 2021 she wants to do a proper Euro bike trip, in previous years we've done trips on a 700 Transalp and a 1000 Varadero (2700 miles in nines days on the 'Dero).

There's three options...

1. Trade the Guzzi in for a proper tourer (around £5k)
2. Keep the Guzzi, buy a cheap tourer, like a £2.5k R1150RT with 40k on the clock or an old shape K1200GT/RS
3. Persuade her to sell her bike (BMW F700GS, that's done 666 miles in total over 4 years) and have a 6-7k budget for a nicer tourer, maybe a >10 R1200RT or a GTR1400, Pan, Super Ten, etc...

I'm not buying a BMW GS under any circumstances.

Also... I really want a V4 Tuono.

If you go down the cheap tourer route, what about an Aprilia ETV1000 Caponord? I’ve got one (as well as an 1150GSA), My missus prefers being on the Capo, it’s all day comfortable for both of us, the engine is stonking (though I appreciate that’s a matter of perspective)...

I got mine 18 months ago for £3k (2008 2nd gen with 30k miles).

On a similar note I saw a Guzzi Norge for sale a few months ago for about 2.5k. I was a bit tempted for a while.

I've looked at Norge's and Stelvio's, all the ones on t'bay at the moment are a bit spendy or ones with sensible miles.

So it's the deep dark days of winter... Some of you must be thinking

"right, so what do i buy next"

What's on the list then, what's the potential purchase ?

i'm fighting the 690SMC-R love at the moment... funnily, also the ktm 790....

Both of them, despite not being as good as the XSR, i'm just not sure what makes me think "mmmmm"

I only desire 2 bikes. A CBX1000 or the Dragster like Iccy's.
