It does seem like NL won't give up easy. If planes can fly and track is open it's a go from them. Whether the bars are open isn't their problem. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tbh mate it's £270. I ain't losing sleep over £270 each here.
The world is garbage and getting more so by the day. The odds of us getting stuck in country is growing too. Adding in a level of selfishness if we were to get infected somehow and then come back and infect someone else, I'm leaning more and more to saying "fuck it" but of course I'll try and hang in for the NL credit as there's nothing to be gained from not doing so.

I'm planning more UK stuff on track for the wife and more days out for me, both in the XSR and MTB.

Simple fact is, it's not sounding like fun any more.

Just seen that a £5000 fine might be introduced from next Monday for folks going abroad for no good reason. Imho, it's over for porto. 🙁, but ye, we better hang on until NL finally wake up and accept it so we get cashback or credit like you say. Hopefully the world will be in a better position next year and we can have another go. 👍

All other sources make that look wrong.
From next week the ban on leaving the UK will become a specific law, backed up by the threat of the fine.

Under the current plan for easing restrictions, the earliest date people in England could go abroad for a holiday would be 17 May.

I don't think they do- the difference in The TImes reporting is them stating the extension of the current travel ban to beyond 17th May- the key words in the bit you've quoted above (from BBC?) is "under the current plan"

I hope that The TImes report is wrong, but even as an optimist I have to admit that all the indicators that I can see point to it most likely being correct- hopefully we'll find out soon

its all just plain crazy & draconian now.....government stopping ppl flying potentially until June !! why.?....almost everyone at risk has been vaccinated ! death rate lowest in 5 years !.the whole point of the vaccination is to get us back to normaility..jobs ! society ! NHS....the damage it of the chart now with the impact of all the lockdowns...accept we needed them but now.?...I don't get it...if iv been vaccinated or test negative why cant I fly.?...

Because this latest policy seems to be not about you getting ill and dying now. It’s about you getting infected while abroad with a variant your vaccine “might not” protect you from and you then bringing it back here and sharing it about thus spannering the current vaccine success here

The City Council of Portimão has begun a process of mass testing across the population following a new recent outbreak in the area, which has been linked to construction workers.
"We are seeing a large number of people infected and, therefore, we intend to carry out mass testing to detect asymptomatic cases and prevent the spread of the disease", said Mayor Isilda Gomes (PS) to Lusa News Agency.

Well it looks like Monday is going to be the day of announcement for us lot. It seems the PM will be laying out the plan from there. I can honestly say, i've absolutely no idea what it's going to be yet.

On the Portugal side, there's good and bad news.
https://www.theportugalnews.com/news/20 ... head/59140
Starting on 5 April, the new measures of the second phase of the easing of the lockdown plan will kick in, which means that several activities will resume, assured the Prime Minister, on 1 April, during a press conference.
The Prime Minister said that medical specialists recommend that the measures should be adequate to maintain the reduction in the spread of Covid 19 in the municipalities currently at highest risk.

According to António Costa, this assessment should take into account the different situation in the country. The PM said: “We should take into account that if in two consecutive assessments, if the same county is above the red level of risk of 120 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in 14 days”, the easing of lockdown measures should not be brought in.

In other words, there may be counties that will not follow the process of the easing of the lockdown. However, at this time, the measures are still applied equally across the country.

At the moment, four counties of the Algarve are included in the 19 counties at great level of risk. These councils where special caution is needed are Albufeira, Lagoa, Vila do Bispo and Portimão.

In the restaurant sector, terraces will be able to open, but only with groups of four people or less and following all precautions.

Then, fairs and markets, as long as they are authorised by the local council, should be back in operation for the sale of non-food goods, while museums and monuments and art galleries can also open on this date.

Finally, sports activities classified by DGS as low risk can resume. Also gyms can reopen, except for group classes and outdoor exercises are allowed with a maximum of 4 people per group.
Which implies that trackdays are not allowed/running currently anyway.

It might be a case of, if we can go, will we be happy with all the restrictions. Maybe NL will make an announcement on Monday, but I doubt it.

When they say it can go ahead ...... still not heard back from Mark Neate yet to the email i sent Monday evening.

I did hear something about govt making further travel announcements on Monday the 12th so they may be hanging on for that
