Re: Portimao 29-31 May 2021. RTTL Extravaganza
Yeah we did that one the other day, that's 5-6 days old now. But it's not necessarily the Portuguese allowing us in that will be the issue. It's the UK allowing us out/back too.
They can say whatever they like, but if the UK will only allow fully vaccinated people out/back without hotel/isolation, then it's all a non-discussion point.
I don't think we'll actually know until this time next month when the government make some sort of an announcement.

Not many of us if any, will have had both jabs by the end of May, if that's whats required and would NL still go ahead if there was no restrictions on travel or isolating, but still restrictions regarding social, pubs, masks etc.

Re: Portimao 29-31 May 2021. RTTL Extravaganza
NL wont give a shit about social or pubs etc as thats nothing to do with what they are providing. Their only concern will be "can they run the event at the track" and "can they provide the accommodation they have booked"Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:33 pm Not many of us if any, will have had both jabs by the end of May, if that's whats required and would NL still go ahead if there was no restrictions on travel or isolating, but still restrictions regarding social, pubs, masks etc.

I'm just hanging in for another 3-4 weeks and I think we'll know more/everything by then.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:33 pm Not many of us if any, will have had both jabs by the end of May, if that's whats required and would NL still go ahead if there was no restrictions on travel or isolating, but still restrictions regarding social, pubs, masks etc.
In other news I was checking over the zx6 today, on the paddock stand the chain isn't an issue. So I'll debate still when to change it.
I do need a decent set of gloves still. Mine are fairly cheap and cheerful. I bought some 3-4 months ago and tried them on at the weekend but no good, so they went back to sportsbike shop.

I've not asked NL on that fella. Both our bikes have dedicated brake guards.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:23 pm Any news on the handguard situation. ?? BY in same boat.
I'd say it's worth a mail though for you.

Yep, I will, and if they say I need proper lever gaurds I'll think their a bunch of tossers. My gaurds completely wrap around the whole lever, brake gaurds don't. I've seen some cheap one's for £21 if needed.

Hum.. on the jab situation had ours yesterday. Talking to the nurse she said 10 / 12 weeks for 2nd go and then the covid card will be vaild for international travel. We ran out of time to get the ''what if i need it sooner'' question.
They were brill but asked us to sign the cards when we get home.
Home via the Photo Copier Shop ?

Looking at the ones fitted on yours mate i cannot see any issues whatsoever as the side and front are completely covered to the extent they offer more coverage than the specified aftermarket items for sale. Mine will probably be ok but maybe not due to the gap at the sideDodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:23 pm Any news on the handguard situation. ?? BY in same boat.

I have wrap around guards on my Husky. They always bend when I fall offDodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:35 pm Yep, I will, and if they say I need proper lever gaurds I'll think their a bunch of tossers. They're not about crash protection. They're fixing one very specific issue, they only need to cover that.
I think the Tracer ones will be fine. But until we get useful pics and confirmation from each organiser, it's impossible to say

That's what I meant. Mine will bend at 5 MPH and will never save the brake lever.

If their to stop handlebar tangles only, then the gap between bar end to brake lever end must be closed.

No, just look at a proper race one. It really is that simple.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:50 pm If their to stop handlebar tangles only, then the gap between bar end to brake lever end must be closed.

Had my first stabbing today (yeah, I is well old ) but sadly, second one is the day after we get back, there wasn't an option to bring it forward.
Things are changing rapidly so I'm not writing it off yet.

Re: Portimao 29-31 May 2021. RTTL Extravaganza
I hope you get to go abroad, I watch a couple of TDO posts with interest, more how they publicise and sell them. I have yet to see a TD issue a refund and I know people who have requested refunds since the pandemic kicked in. Focussed events put one up thr other day, they are running their trackday in Spain in April.
The caveat however, it is only for ACU approved ELITE sportspeople, this interests me as there are not that many who would be classed as Elite as your talking BSB, UKMX level riders and not club racers. The ACU have recently changed their guidelines and made it harder to leave the UK for foreign training/events.
I'd love to hear from somebody who lives in Spain etc what exactly is happening over there and not hearsay from our biased media.
We missed testing in Spain this year as BSB Spanish testing got outlawed due to costs as well as the covid issue, but I get to attend a private shakedown/test event next week for 3 days if open pitlane work, this weather best pickup. I am quite glad they pushed our season back as the weather should be a tad better by the end of May when we race.

Re: Portimao 29-31 May 2021. RTTL Extravaganza
I, more than a few, am well aware they are not about crash protection and all about collision onto a brake lever as it was something i had to deal with, recognise and report back in incident reports during accidents back in the day hence why i think Dodgy's are fine and mine are debatable
Photos wont answer all the questions as the ones on some of the other Yamaha's are like flexi plastic and will bend on any contact, the ones on the Ducati incorporate the indicators so will be stiffer and offer more resistance to flex. I'll happily send NL some pics if they want them but they dont show how strong the plastic is, if you get my drift but its up to them at the end of the day
