But having temporary heatwave (27c) and aircon packed in.
That was an uncomfortable journey.

We use the aircon everyday and happy it's lasted this long.

Gonna be up early to get it fixed.

If it's never been re-gassed in eight years then it might well be that it will just be needing new gas. Quick and cheap fix if it is, just need to find a local 'Kwik Fit' equivalent.

By idiots, leave the air con on all the time, even if you're calling for heat, 1 it dries the air quicker and 2 as has been said it keeps the seals in better nick.
My 14 year old civic runs its air con permanently on, has had one re-gas and it works like a champ.

They should pressure test it first foc and regas if all good.

I've never switched ours off, as far as I can remember, on any car that we've had with it. Apart from the ones when we've been driving with the roof down/off and even with those it was a definite +ve in winter for clearing condensation rapidly.

Our faithful Toyota is 11 years old and will need to be changed sooner rather than later. I'm really not looking forward to all that schitt you mention,but it looks like it's unavoidable.
