Anyone care to make a guess what this is going to sell for?

With that provenance, megabucks. IIRC Steve's own watch broke some world record when it was sold.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 2:22 pm Anyone care to make a guess what this is going to sell for?

It's not my cup of tea either, but I wouldn't mind having it to sell, I could probably retire off that.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
My Datejust has gone back to Rolex for a service/repair which, “due to COVID” will take a minimum of 8 weeks so I’ve had to dig out an old TAG (didn’t realise how much I would miss wearing a watch). Wasn’t sure whether to post this here or in the “dead twocy and snide”

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I only really wear a watch for work these days, if I'm not at work I don't need to know what time it is, so I don't wear a watch.
In fact I'm usually dressed like a tramp so a nice watch would look strange.
At the moment I feel like selling everything off and buying just one really nice watch to wear when I need to wear a watch.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I think I may be infected with the watch bug.
For ages I have lusted over Rolex Submariners, but eventually accepted that these are overpriced and out of reach. So I bought a nice new Seiko and I really like it. Rather than being content I am now lusting after other Seiko's, particularly the 'Pogue'. Unfortunately, like Submariners, it is a bit of a cult thing, and there also appears to be a nice little earner in taking a Seiko of the right shape and roughly the right date and changing all sorts of bits so that it mimics a proper Pogue. The market for that particular watch appears to be infested with charlatans who want my money and will cobble together bits that tempt people like me who like bright shiney things but have little real knowledge of watches
I already have a dress watch, and 2 divers watches. I now fancy a GMT watch and a chronograph, not that I have any need of either. Is there a cure for watch lust?

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Just googled the Pogue.
I can't see watches with red and blue on them without thinking of the watch I had at school in the 80's to teach me how to tell the time.

I continually look, thinking of ways I can sneak another piece in without the wife noticing

I'm currently searching daily for a Hamilton, was looking at a Khaki mechanical but now drawn towards an Air Race - make a nice daily wearer....

I quite like the Pogue Seikos, but since the space connection has been brought into the public eye there are loads of "fakes".

That looks like a watch for a 5 year old. Maybe I'm behind with the times.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:09 pmI had the same one, I posted about it before.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 8:45 pm Just googled the Pogue.

I think once you start to like something the temptation is always there to start collecting other pieces.
