Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
I did
I ride 60s and 90s bikes. So I split the difference and got something from the 70s/80s. As above I didnt want a piss pot open face.

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
Bought my MM93 NXR from Sportsbikeshop on the basis that if I didn't like it I could ship it back for free. Top service from them. I popped into the Leeds store a few months back now as I'd reserved the Shoei GT Air 2, I wasn't sure about it though but there was absolutely zero sales pressure.

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
I followed up on the Sportsbikeshop Black Friday sale and managed to get the boy an Arai Debut helmet for the bargain price of 215 quid as they added a 10% discount code i had to the already discounted price. 84 quid less than normal retail

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
Picked up my Arai today, tried it on stood literally outside their door.
Fortunately it fits, but it's on the snug side. I'd describe it as "reassuringly firm" rather than "uncomfortably tight" though, if anything I've probably become used to a helmet that's too loose. 'Tis my first Arai and I'm impressed with the build quality, everything seems very 'solid'.
It's very very yellow

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
It will bed in a bit, they can normally tailor it to fit a little through altering some of the padding. When i buy my Arai's i buy them fairly tight and even many years later they still fit comfortably whereas a Shark i bought in the past was loose within 3 years as the padding bedded in too muchMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 4:06 pm Picked up my Arai today, tried it on stood literally outside their door.

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
Turns out my kids don't want to buy me the crash helmet for Xmas after all. They want to buy me something more personal than bike stuff? I haven't bought a new helmet for a good few years so i'll treat myself.
Merry Christman Tai.
Aww thanks Tai, its just what i've always wanted!

The Friendface thing where it shows you this day in history, just popped up with the day I bought my Tour-X4... 5 years ago. Guess I'll be needing a new lid.
Probably a Debut or a Profile V... in frost black.

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
Just because the manufacturers recommend you change the helmet every 5 years doesnt make it gospel. They are in the business of selling you their product and they dont explode after 5 years if they are well looked after.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 5:17 pm The Friendface thing where it shows you this day in history, just popped up with the day I bought my Tour-X4... 5 years ago. Some manufacturers say seven years from production, others say 3 years if used regularly
But the 5 year advice does give you the excuse to buy new kit and justify it to a doubting missus

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
Kinda disappointed with the Bell lid. It may not be completely the helmets fault, but the turbulence from my screen make the peak vibrate horrendously! If I touch the peak, it stops instantly, so i feel the peak is just too flimsy, but accept it might not be noticeable on a different bike? Shame to confine it to the cupboard as its quite comfy, but anything over 40mph is pretty much unbearable!

This is why I've not spent £700 on an Arai this week. If it's not 100% it's useless.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 2:21 pm Kinda disappointed with the Bell lid. Got this recently, does a job but visor opening could be easier.

Re: Crash Helmets - returns policy?
I'm going to move the windscreen deflector and hope that cures it, as you say, nice lid, so it'd be a shame to bin it over turbulence.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 5:30 pmShame.
