ive turns the gasket on between the sink and the plug thing upside down and seems to be ok, ill keep an eye on it.

When you reassemble the unit, rather than using silicon sealant, try plumbers mait, it’s available from most diy stores and places like screw fix for about £3-£4 a tub. It’s designed exactly for this.

So went to tool station and got a new plug waste thing, fitted, sink been filled, and no leaks, sorted
