The Gremlin household watched that on Saturday. When paused to refill glasses, I made the comment that the timeline of the film was not at all realistic* and was going to explain why, when Mrs. G shot me a look and reminded me that it was a film, that she was quite enjoying, and to forget picking it apart for factual details.

I wisely kept my counsel. :D

Watched it this weekend gone too :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Felt like a Guy Ritchie take on Inglorious Bastards. Nice to see Reacher (Alan Ritchson) playing a slightly more nuanced character too. Really enjoyed it. 👍

Well, that's 2 and a half hours of my life I'll not get back.

Looked lovely, but that's about all i say in defense of it.

I really wanted to enjoy it but it tried to cover far too much in just one film and so didn’t seem to find a purpose. I also struggled to like Phoenix in the lead, just came off as a moody teenager. I also struggle to see him as a young 24 year old at the beginning of the film.

True.
I was also somewhat disappointed that they got some of the details completely wrong in the battle scenes. Its very well documented how the French fought, and they didn't show that at all, especially the Waterloo depiction.

OTT WWII film with a spaghetti western vibe, probably the best film I've seen this year
And again, I like westerns films, I like war films, I like scandi noir type films, this just blend them all together in a most excellent way.

Just waded through 'The Perfect Couple'.

The White Lotus it was not.

Dreary, not gripping at all, the killer's motive was barely there, and the very end was pretty pointless and shit too.

Grave of the fireflies.

Sad but in my opinion not the weepie it’s made out to be. Especially as the ending is more or less revealed at the start of the film.

But that’s quite possibly just me.

Im in no way an Elvis fan, but surprised myself by really enjoying the Elvis fillum (currently on netflix). Superb performance by Austin Butler throughout. Slightly weird Tom Hanks characterisation of colonel Tom Parker but then I have absolutely no idea who he is / was. For all I know it could be spot on.

Rebel Ridge - Netflix

A 'drifter' vs small town police type movie, similar to Stallone's First Blood but wanting to come across as more intelligent. It was ok. A bit too long, some side plots that weren't necessary and the end was a bit convenient.

My mum was a massive Elvis fan so I know the songs and have seen all the films. I thought it was brilliant.

'Colonel' Tom Parker was a Dutch con man which explains the accent (although none of the Dutch people I know talk like that ). I didn't know how he was ripping Elvis off but my mum hated him. I thought the film was more about exposing him than a paeon to Elvis which was good.

Thanks for reminding me to watch it

I lost the plot change a couple of times.
And need to rewind the ending to see the twist 3 mins from end.

Otherwise a steady film.

I felt hampered by the absence of subtitles at times.

Defaults to english over dubs on my Netflix which just looks/sounds weird. Switch back to the original Japanese sound track with subs and it's much better!

I normally don't go in for these sorts of films but I'd read good things about this one so I gave it a go. 8/10

Godzilla isn't even in it that much!
Watched that the other night.... no idea who did the dubbing* but it sounded like things haven't moved on much from old '80s Jackie Chan films....

* I struggle with sub-titles: I always find myself watching the text and missing the action, so prefer dubs, although bad-dubs aren't any better I'll admit).

Started watching "Industry" on iPlayer, hoping to be educated into Gremlin's world. All they see to do is stitch each other up, shag each other and drink loads. It's like the financial crash never happened. All that is missing is the Filofaxes and the red porsche 944s.

Hated everything single character - and after the 4th episode I just wanted them all to die.

I am sure it is not really like that, Mr G?

Halfway through series 2 and beginning to lose interest. It appears that you can kill and main at will in Dublin and not get caught
