But the shocker, for me, is Stirling Moss, by Obert Edwards. Massive coffee table hardback, 350 pages. Not wanted by WBB.

£30 when published in 2001. £4.50 s/h
I've just parcelled up 42 books and will get the princely sum of about £33. :D The star of the show was 'We are Legion (We are Bob)' for £3.57 iirc. The oddest was when I scanned in the complete set of 'Mortal Engines' books they took some but not the 3rd or 4th. Got a reject stack for Oxfam now.

However, the missus cleared 4 or 5 books off the shelves. She bought them in the RHS Wisley library sale (they sell off library books and donations to do with plants/gardens). Some 1st editions (probably only editions!) on exciting things like sweet peas  She'd done a Google....£50 to £70 each! I didn't scan those (I might do it for a laugh - if they actually have bar codes).

A whole pizza is too much. I mean to say, I can eat a whole one. I would eat a whole one, but I shouldn't eat a whole one and I don't have the will power not to.

My local pizza man will make a half pizza, he'll even just cook you a base so you can take it home and make a sandwich (It was my wife's request, she was pissed, she is very persuasive. In her defence, if it needs it, it was a bloody nice sandwich.).

I don't like to think about "half pizza" personally - if I order a whole pizza the whole fecking pizza IS MINE.

As a stoodent, my housemate used to wrap up the remnants of his post-pub-takeaway and just wedge it down the side of the sofa so that he could continue eating it in the morning. How none of us died ....

It's about 9 / 10 inches. It's not that I can't manage it, it's that I don't need that much food.

Personally, I'd say sod the expense and buy a new gap.

If you stick it under your pillow it's less likely to go missing before the morning.

Spanish websites. Just booked ferries to Fuerteventura and took nearly as long as the ferry itself.

I was a programmer for many years and I'd have been sacked if I'd produced the 2 shit sites I had to use today

I love broad beans, especially in a ham and broad bean risotto, but they are difficult to find fresh in this country (well up north anyway) yet we export or use as animal feed most of what we grow in the UK 😡

I really like broad beans as well, but the only way to get hold of them on a regular basis is in the frozen supermarket aisles. If I ever see them fresh I snap them up, but that doesn't happen often.

They're great in a green Thai curry.

I used to do PYO broad beans with my Mum when I was a kid. I'm gonna see if I can find somewhere to do it with Baby D, now I think on it :D

I suppose I could just grow them :obscene-birdiedoublered:

The water stop cock in my house. When the valve is open the lever is across the direction of flow and when closed it's in line with the direction of flow. Aha I thought, I'll take the handle off and rotate in 90 degrees on the shaft. Nope, it has a stadium shaped* driveshaft and socket not a square one.

*A similar shape to the pistons used in the Honda NR750 engine. They aren't oval, ovals are curved all round, stadiums have straight sides.

Weird. I wonder if the internal parts were assembled 90 degrees out somehow? (Or the wrong internals used).

Seems totally counter-intuitive to have the lever aligned that way.

I doubt that much thought went into the manufacturing specs. It's not a quarter turn tap, just the usual windy up and own one.

I dealt with the wrongly aligned quarter turn taps soon after arrival.
