Oi, I resemble that remark

Day didn't start well when I couldn't swing my leg over the bike, not enough movement in the new hip (more stretching required or lower the bike), had to lean it on the house wall to get on. (didn't get much better as day went on, especially at the end, maybe platform boots)
Had a couple of 'lay downs', the first was a tip over in an over grown rut, just lost balance, grabbed brakes, stopped and tipped over, the second one was down an over grown lane, was riding blind through bushes when the colour changed from light green to dark green, bike stopped dead and over we go, had gone off track and into a bush :o , pick it up, drag it out of the bush and try again.

Long tough day, first time I'd done a full day on that bike so was trying to learn it and get back into trail ridng again so had a few 'woah' monents but excellent fun with lots of banter and laughs.
Top fun :banana-dance:

I've never been overtaken by a coffee shop in my rear view mirror, that's a new one on me.

Seeing as it's July 1st I taxed 'Back lanes Betty' this morning. The bike's been under a cover in the garage since late January & the MOT is due next weekAbout 4pm the rain finally stopped so I gave it a couple of hours to dry out, then fired the bike up & went for a spin.
First stop, the petrol station, filled up with E5,then I went looking for a Tory poster for the riding challenge,25 miles later,no poster but a enjoyable spin around the back lanes.

The bike was reluctant to start at first,I think a relay' was sticking & I forgot how crap the brakes are on these versions
I'll be doing a bit of 'tinkering' tomorrow,MOT's booked in Friday morning  .

First trip on the GS with the missus - up to the Adventure Bike Festival @ Ragley Hall. Swansea / Brecon / Leominster / Worcester / Alcester. Bit of a spin to Broadway and Fish Hill sat pm then across the Cotwolds to Dads in Oxford and back home Sunday. 400 odd miles fully loaded with all the camping gear. Bike went mint - it's a TE so have to be careful getting on and off it but suspension is amazing. Might get to Normandy before the end of August. First time @ ABR - it's mint so have booked for 2025 tonight.

This morning I took my SV650 to my mates bike shop for it's MOT.He's into WWII stuff, there's often something unusual to my eye's on the workbench & this time it was a WWII paratrooper bike, they were used in Normandy.

It's a hand change gearbox, probably takes so much concentration to ride that it takes your mind away from being under fire :wtf:
The SV650 passed it's MOT

Out and about early on again, before the roads get busy.
Heated gear on the whole time. I don't think I'll be taking out my thermal jacket lining this year at all.

A flying flea!

Still blows my mind that those blokes parachuted in, located these things, fuelled them up and then rode them around in a war zone.
Although from memory not many of them actually made it into actual service, so it was a neat idea but never really got going, although a few did get used in anger apparently.

After the war IIRC a lot that were never deployed were repurposed for postmen, errands, etc, and post-war cheap transport.

Cushendun...our first stop on our anual pilgrimage tothe NW. How come there are hardly any campervans over in the car park? Last time I was there it was solid - barely room to put a bike! And the sun's shining - eh? Photoshopped.....

My memories of Ireland are rain, rain, rain, and some more rain, with some fog.
Occasionally it stopped for long enough to walk to the shops, then it rained.

The Trough of Bowland is probably one of the most beautiful places in the UK, but tbf I'm only a fair weather rider, so I only experienced dry roads and sun. I only ever saw rain when I go running up Clougha Fell and rain doesn't matter when you're running.
