Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I have a couple of RW watches already as I have a bit of a soft spot for them, but I really do like both of these. Not available 'til October, but I reckon if I ask for money rather than record tokens for my birthday in September, I might have a cheeky purchase.
I like the blue one.
But then black is classic.
But then I like the contrast of the blue....

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Face and movement are nice, strap is idiotic.
I get that the strap is the type used on the landings themselves, but that doesn't mean they're actually that nice to wear. I keep catching the end on my shirt and the loop-back is on the inside of your wrist so its bulk is more noticeable than it should be.
Plenty of alternatives though.

First thing I did was stick a cheapy NATO style strap on mine.Rockburner wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 10:14 am 17165418483944404631987187164002.jpg
Bloody hell these are light. (Mind you, I'm accustomed to heavy metal watches on metal bracelets)

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I've got the even more stupid "double wrist lap" strap for my Speedy
Upside, I could wear it around the outside of a spacesuit. Downside, it's kin massive.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I’m wearing the exact same watch today, I don’t mind the strap though, it’s convenient and comfortable enough. Although I never wear a watch in bed and I usually take it off at home - in fact tbh I find I don’t often wear a watch very frequently these days, if the market wasn’t rubbish I’d probably sell all my expensive ones apart from maybe one standard plain submariner.Rockburner wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 10:14 am 17165418483944404631987187164002.jpg

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Flicking through the Jet2's finest inflight literature on my trip home this afternoon I spotted a watch I quite liked in the on flight duty free section.
£102.
I thought, fuck it. Ask the flight attendant if I could have a look. Decided Id have it, only to find out they were 30% off. £71 result!
It's no Omega, but I like it.
It's one of these.

There were also doing three single litre bottles of JD for £46. I'm drinking some right now.

Wore one daily for 10 years +, now it sits on a shelf sipping daylight and still tells the correct time (give or take an hour as I CBA to alter it)KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:25 pm Flicking through the Jet2's finest inflight literature on my trip home this afternoon I spotted a watch I quite liked in the on flight duty free section.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I met a friend for a few beers a couple of evenings ago, he's partial to an expensive timepiece and turned up wearing £18k worth of comedy Breitling. It was the diamond thing in the pic but with a white face. He said it puts a smile on his face when he wears it, it does have a certain amusment value to it.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
A few years back a colleague had a huuuge gold Breitling Navitimer thing. It was unmissable, OTT, and strangely likeable in a bling sort of way.
I am partial to bling, but being modest in stature and with small wrists it would look ridiculous on me. Fortunate, and irritating, in equal measure.
I shall stick to Seiko, at least I can afford them.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Bloke I know has the stature of Mo Farah and he has a U-Boat watch. Look utterly ridiculous on him and looks like a shackle! But because the watch is so oversized on him he loves the attention it gets! I've come to like bigger watches lately, but I dont think i'd wear anything that oversized for me!
