Many years ago, for my birthday, my daughter bought me a Fred Perry style shirt from Primark. I didn't know where she'd got it from but said to my wife I hope she hasn't spent all her money on the shirt! My wife said no it was on a couple of quid from Primark. I was a bit taken aback as it was made from a fair quality material and all the seams were double stitched. I went down there and bagged a few more. They seem to have gone backwards now though and I rarely bother with their stuff now as the quality varies so much but I still pop in from time to time just in case...Yorick wrote: Mon Apr 08, 2024 7:56 pm Had to go into the new Primark today. Never been in one before, but the reputation precedes them.
<Shudder>
Never again.

My wife refuses to go in Primani, I have to trudge along behind her while she peruses the stock in New Look.

Lots of women seem capable of shopping without their partners, not my wife.weeksy wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:55 amI've only been shopping once with Mrs Weeksy in 15 years...KungFooBob wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:49 am My wife refuses to go in Primani, I have to trudge along behind her while she peruses the stock in New Look.
I have to drive and carry bags, then get told I look like a miserable bastard as I trudge along behind her and I get told off for playing on my phone when she's in the changing rooms as I don't notice when she steps out to ask me how she looks.

I don't go shopping, not even grocery shopping, with my wife but I do look like a miserable bastard. Even when I'm not shopping.

I'm the opposite. Due to my anxiety, I'm incapable of making decisions. I need her with me all the way.
I need some new bike gloves, but gonna wait till she's back next week.

My kids. Expensive holiday, loads to do. What do they do? Sit in a bedroom with the curtains drawn and lights on, playing the same computer games they do at home.

I like shopping. In the supermarket there's much fun to be had riding the trollies, placing random things in the trolley (not always ours, either
) and general buffoonery.
Whilst shopping at Bluewater there's always fun to had, holding up dresses to yourself in the mirror and asking strangers if it's your colour, turning up the speakers in the hi-fi dept to max volume or just standing still in among the mannequins. Thinking about it, though, it has been some time since Mrs. G asked me to go shopping with her.
(I actually got a bollocking from a member of staff for answering the phone to a customer in Army and Navy some years ago

He didn't listen to my mitigation, that the kids in the car in front were posting them custard creams out the window.

Why do politicians and BBC reporters roll their sleeves up when in an hospital? Are they going to scrub up and do some surgery? Winds me up almost as much as wonky eyed Evan Davies, commentator on Dragons Den and other BBC fare: tells you what you have just been watching as if we're all suffering from dementia.

It's the universal hand movements that all standing presenters do to somehow emphasise words (they seem to be trained to) that gets me. eg They can't say 'all' without moving their hands apart. Once you notice it it becomesBuckaroo wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:59 pm Why do politicians and BBC reporters roll their sleeves up when in an hospital? Are they going to scrub up and do some surgery?
One or two seem to think they're doing 'big fish, little fish, cardboard box' though.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Microchip cat flaps that only let your cats in...allegedly.
This is my cat flap, but that ain't my cat
. Much cat growling and general cerfuffle ensued at 3AM.

Cats. Pen has 3 cats and when she goes on her regular trips to UK, they often bugger off for a few days.
She's been away 2 weeks and the ginger one has been missing about 5 days.
Nothing strange, it'll come home soon as usual.
But council workers tidying up our front verge found him in some bushes.
When I picked him up to put in a sack, he was stiff so been there a while.
Had to phone Penny. No answer so rang her mum's landline.
Told her mum and she'll break the sad news.
She'll be devastated. It's getting to me much more than I thought. He was a funny cat.
Poor Frankie.

Just been to a meeting where a nice person had some biscuits and a twin pack of genuine jaffa cakes. Now I haven’t had Jaffa cakes in a long while but most were in agreement they’ve got much smaller!! Apparently, It’s called shrinkflation!
