All this fuss about the solar eclipse.

Just like night, only a bit shorter.

Move on, people....nothing to see here.

Never again.
When I was going through my phase of shagging chavettes, or Millies as we call them here, Primark was a happy hunting ground. Wonderful place.

No one calls it Primark.

It's Primarni.

It's where I got my "Homer Simpson retreating into a bush" T-shirt.

Don't listen to the old farts! Love a Primani outing :obscene-birdiedoublered:

There's an eclipse roughly every 18 months or so. Spain is going to get 3 in the next few years, 2 total and one annular. One of them, a total in 2028 will just miss Yorick but he'll get a good partial. I might just go to Egypt in 2027 . . .

I missed the 1999 Cornwall one.

Well no I didn't, I was right in the path of maximum totality. It was just an overcast day :D

Every so often I peruse the Wikipedia "Total Solar Eclipses in the 21st Century" page, 'cause I really want to see one. I can imagine I might do the one which is passing over/through the Balearics in August 2026. Mrs. D has been saying she wants to go on, and I quote, "a shit Spanish holiday" anyway.

I suspect the school holiday tax on hotels/flights in that period will go into overdrive.

I was just north of Redruth in 1999 on the centre line and the cloud was down low. It was still a sight to see the shadow approaching over the Atlantic at around 3000 mph and we got a small break in the cloud just after totality and saw a beautiful 'diamond ring'.

I'd gone down on the bike and Speed Couriers gave me an evening job to MK which although south made it a long trip from Manchester and it was a long haul back to Preston after the event. The XJ900F was comfortable but not that comfortable.

I think Egypt will have clear skies in 2027 and I'm already thinking of what photography kit will be best to take. Other (Turkish) astronomers and astro-photographers are also interested so there might be a party.

I was all set to go to Cornwall in 1999 to stay at my mate's pub, the Bucket of Blood.
But my company asked me to go work in Toronto for 4 months.

Apparently I missed nothing as was very cloudy. I remember folk charging stupid money for accommodation :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Many years ago, for my birthday, my daughter bought me a Fred Perry style shirt from Primark. I didn't know where she'd got it from but said to my wife I hope she hasn't spent all her money on the shirt! My wife said no it was on a couple of quid from Primark. I was a bit taken aback as it was made from a fair quality material and all the seams were double stitched. I went down there and bagged a few more. They seem to have gone backwards now though and I rarely bother with their stuff now as the quality varies so much but I still pop in from time to time just in case...

My wife refuses to go in Primani, I have to trudge along behind her while she peruses the stock in New Look.

Lots of women seem capable of shopping without their partners, not my wife.

I have to drive and carry bags, then get told I look like a miserable bastard as I trudge along behind her and I get told off for playing on my phone when she's in the changing rooms as I don't notice when she steps out to ask me how she looks.

I don't go shopping, not even grocery shopping, with my wife but I do look like a miserable bastard. Even when I'm not shopping.

I'm the opposite. Due to my anxiety, I'm incapable of making decisions. I need her with me all the way.

I need some new bike gloves, but gonna wait till she's back next week.

My kids. Expensive holiday, loads to do. What do they do? Sit in a bedroom with the curtains drawn and lights on, playing the same computer games they do at home.

I like shopping. In the supermarket there's much fun to be had riding the trollies, placing random things in the trolley (not always ours, either ;) ) and general buffoonery.

Whilst shopping at Bluewater there's always fun to had, holding up dresses to yourself in the mirror and asking strangers if it's your colour, turning up the speakers in the hi-fi dept to max volume or just standing still in among the mannequins. Thinking about it, though, it has been some time since Mrs. G asked me to go shopping with her.

(I actually got a bollocking from a member of staff for answering the phone to a customer in Army and Navy some years ago  )

I got an awful bollocking from a park warden at Woburn after i drove through the monkey enclosure with a banana on my bonnet.
He didn't listen to my mitigation, that the kids in the car in front were posting them custard creams out the window. :(

Why do politicians and BBC reporters roll their sleeves up when in an hospital? Are they going to scrub up and do some surgery? Winds me up almost as much as wonky eyed Evan Davies, commentator on Dragons Den and other BBC fare: tells you what you have just been watching as if we're all suffering from dementia. :angry-argument:
