I'm not really sure why, yeah it'll probably ride rubbish, but it will make up for my tiny cock.
It's a strange combination because you'll need massive balls to ride it fast around corners

All that time , money and effort put in and yet still the best carburetor to use is a Gardiner made in a shed in west Sussex. Brilliant.

Keeps that bit of it British, but he was obviously a masochist- I guess Mikunis or Lectrons would have just been too easy

They are lovely things tho'

I'd never seen one until I saw this RE at Cadwell a couple of years ago.

The bloke saw me gawping and came over with a load of photocopied magazine articles and notes explaining how they work for me to take away and read (we were parked up opposite him in the paddock).

The Gardner?

I don't. Interesting thing tho'... the fuel hose is attached to the jet tube that actually drops out the bottom of the carb when you open the throttle... that's why there's so much extra fuel pipe to allow for it to move.

Instead of a needle lifting, the tube drops. The static needle screws into the top of the body so it's dead easy to change

I'm really struggling to find a sensibly priced 1100 to fiddle with over winter.

Mines the 89 K model, the handling isn't modern but realistically neither am I.
For me its the best looking of the oilboilers but I'm unashamedly biased.
They seem to be getting expensive nowadays which to me isn't really a plus, was nicer when breakers had a load of cheap parts.
Currently mines a bit forlorn in the small shed but I'm helping my daughter buy a house with a garage so I can fire it in there for a while and knock up a better bike garage/workshop for myself.

That seat/tail unit must weigh 20 kilos.

I thought GSXR1100s were okay to ride, the 750 was nicer, but the 1100 is a genuinely quick bike in a straight line, 140bhp and no traction control, what's not to enjoy.

When I see bikes like that I think how absolutely horrific they must be to ride. Biking is supposed to be a pleasure, but really, on that, is it?

In addition it looks like a lot of time and effort has gone into making it so shit.
At one time that engine had a half decent frame wrapped around it, with suspension, but someone decided to make it differently and in all ways it's worse than the bike that rolled out of the factory.

The only thing it has going for it is uniqueness, but there are better ways to be unique than that.

See that's a legit improvement that is. On my Bonneville the speedo drive comes from the rear wheel so the cable is about 8ft long.

It means the cable "winds up" loads then suddenly unravels when the tension is high enough. Net result is speedo which is constantly waving about. :D

This bike is making more and more sense.

Those wheels and tyres must weight about the same as the original bike. :wtf:

He can hardly pass that off as period additions can he.

I don't get why people do that, it's like the 350LC lot that put RGV banana swingarm on - just buy an RGV.
I'm into period improvements, my LC has them, but if you take a bike from a decade+ later and graft parts on then it just doesn't make much sense to me.
