Given me a case number, passed the reg numbers to ANPR and closed the case. About what I'd expect.

Maybe stick the pics and info up on social media to hamper any easy sale?

I agree, they are niche bikes, your average scroat isn't going to able to get a Greeves running and keep it running.
Take a nose around social sites that cater to them, Red Marley Hill Climb etc https://www.facebook.com/redmarleyhillc ... cale=en_GB

'Ring' etc doorbells? And not just the cul-de-sac, roads either side too.

Just had a visit from 2 PCSOs who gave me sympathetic advice and left some smartwater. Ordered a couple of shed alarms and I think will get a wereless burglar alarm as well. At £100 they're cheap enough.

In terms of CCTV etc the cul de sac comes from a minor road which has no houses on it so isn't really overlooked. Mind you when I lived in suburban Brum on a busy road my bikes and cars were always getting nicked.

Take the front brake lever off, so they'd crash if they rode it :)

That's a real shitter Ian,
Not the easiest bikes to flick on unless they went straight across the channel for a new life in eastern Europe.
A cul de sac is usually safer as there's more chance of getting caught. Shame no ones got a CCTV rigged up.
Hope they're insured and or they get recovered.

My biggest pisser with living in the UK was bike thieves. Neighbor in Cambridge had two Nortons nicked one night. A 750 & an later 850. Had a sight issue with insurance & the cops as they shared the same license plate & tax disc...

In the past, a bike theft may have been beneficial when the engine had blown. Allegedly ;)

Very sorry to hear that Ian... I'll pop up the pics and brief details on my FB page and my Elevenses podcast. What force is involved?

There are a number of FB groups which you can use to report the theft too.

It's West Mercia. They're not going to do much as I would expect.

I don't know anything about the subject, but isn't there anything like a very small tracking device that we can hide on our bike's, so we can keep an eye on their whereabouts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shit news indeed. 👎

Air tags.

I think there's a Samsung equivalent too.

They're not proper trackers, someone with a suitable phone has to be within Bluetooth range for them to report back to the internet which by default is turned on on most iphones, etc... so if it's hidden in a lock up you won't get a location until someone random walks past with an iphone with the feature still enabled.

Better than nothing, but no good if it's being kept in the middle of bum fuck nowhere.

I wonder where the law stands on that. Will the police be interested in following the tracker,or is that safely left to the owner?

With the 'new' anti-stalker feature that both Apple & Android run I don't know if this is still a viable option, it all depends on how long it takes for the phone to report than an unknown tracker is following you about I suppose.

Gutted for you.

I'd be keeping an eye out on areas where kids ride off-road for the Tri-greeves or local areas where it's been dumped if they can't start it. My XR400 was found when the little bastards blew it up.

I set up an ebay search for Almax chains and bought two of them s/h to lock my bikes up, as well as half a dozen other chains just to slow them down in the hope my cheapy CCTV alrm wakes me in time.

Hopefully they'll turn up, fingers crossed for you.
