My Dad once said to (the tattooed) Mrs. D that only sailors and prisoners have tattoos
He's got several himself now.

Re: Tramp Stamps
I'm one of very few in the groups of my girlfriends that doesn't have a tattoo. Most of my closest girlfriends have quite a few!! I'm not averse to having one (apart from the fact that it involves needles and the tattoo gun sounds a bit like a dentist drill!!) but I've seen very very few that I would want on me!!
I have most of a design in mind because I do want something done (a memorial piece I suppose) but I want it for me, so not on the arm of anything easily in view, but it has to be a style I'll actually like.
Weirdly, last week I met a girl in a bar that showed us a couple of new tattoos and they were beautiful. Light, no heavy outlines, simple colours. So I have the name of the tattoo artist that did them and will probably have a chat at some point in case he can produce a design that I do like

Re: Tramp Stamps
None.
I don't hate them as such but as an art form they just look amateurish to me, so I wouldn't want one permanently.
And even if it was done beautifully there is no image that speaks to me to the extent that I want it written on.
I've only got judgy about it with an ex colleague who let his really amateur friend practice on him. A crooked sword (he had to tell me it was a sword) and his girlfriend's name literally the week before they broke up.

Re: Tramp Stamps
Dragon on right forearm (nearly got evicted by the Old Man as I was 19 and living with my parents at the time)
Tribal on the left arm.
Right Shoulder and upper arm, "The Great Wave at Kanagawa"
I want a "Keeper" on my left chest and back. Those that watched Babylon 5 will know what I mean.

"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Re: Tramp Stamps
You should get the "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" on the other arm to matchMingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:23 pm Right Shoulder and upper arm, "The Great Wave at Kanagawa"

Re: Tramp Stamps
Im thinking of having my upper body tattooed from my neck to my chest, and inviting anyone who is in a bad way and feeling depressed to colour it in.
Well everyone needs a shoulder to crayon!

It involves pain and needles, so that's right out for me...

Re: Tramp Stamps
Yep. Nothing huge or colourful.
Small squid on my right shoulder I'm honour of Gremlinette as her baby nickname was 'Squid face'.
A lucky cornicello on my inner right bicep, for warding off pesky evil spirits.
'Famigla e per sempre' on my left tit, as tribute to my beautiful family.
'L'anima tua bella' on my left inner bicep, which translates as 'Your soul is beautiful', for the lovely Mrs. Gremlin.
And I took the Gremlinette for her first tattoo in Modena, coz I'm classy.

Re: Tramp Stamps
I am a blank canvas. I may put an active volcano on a bicep with felt pen in an homage to Popeye - although I can't find any record of it but I'm sure he had one that erupted when he ate spinach.
