Type cast actors.
Somebody mentioned Morgan Freeman on another thread, and it strikes me that whenever a role called for a sage, benevolent, statesman-like black guy, they'd just get straight onto the phone to Morgan's agent.
Ditto a tough, Cockernay gangster with a heart of gold role. Pick up the phone to Ray Winson. Mind you, can't really imagine anybody considering him for a Rudolph Nureyev biopic....
Who else is a shoe in for a certain type of acting role?

The first thing I recall seeing Winstone in was the 80s 'Robin of Sherwood' series - but TBH he played 'young Will Scarlet' like a cockernee gangsta too really.gremlin wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 10:45 am

Jason statham, some ludicrous role or another. Liam neeson aging old geezer who can take anyone on in any situation. Nicholas’s cage, simpering, gurning softly spoken idiot. I better stop now or I’ll work my way through most oh hollywoods finest…

And Peter Fonda was right upto Once Upon A Time In The West. Which he hated playing.

Great minds think alike. Add Tom Cruise and it's almost complete, bar a few dozen or so.Taipan wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:21 am Jason statham, some ludicrous role or another. Kevin Alejandro. He played a blithering fucking idiot in Lucifer & now he's playing the same part in Fire Country (A truly abysmal series about forestry fire fighters in Calizuela)

Mark Rylance, when you need a man who can appear quiet and innocent as a mouse, and yet have dirty hidden secrets.

Toby Jones - much as I like him - if you want a world-weary but still vaguely optimistic, decent, Mr Everyman with determined streak.
