Type cast actors.

Post by gremlin »

Somebody mentioned Morgan Freeman on another thread, and it strikes me that whenever a role called for a sage, benevolent, statesman-like black guy, they'd just get straight onto the phone to Morgan's agent.

Ditto a tough, Cockernay gangster with a heart of gold role. Pick up the phone to Ray Winson. Mind you, can't really imagine anybody considering him for a Rudolph Nureyev biopic....

Who else is a shoe in for a certain type of acting role?

The first thing I recall seeing Winstone in was the 80s 'Robin of Sherwood' series - but TBH he played 'young Will Scarlet' like a cockernee gangsta too really.

Jason Statham - tough guy bit rough round the edges
Liam N - old tough guy, but mysteriously Irish
Tom Cruise - when you want a superstar that runs a lot and is Tom Cruise
Sienna Miller - blonde posh totty
Simon Pegg - geek with a heart of gold
Dominic West - posh baddie
Rupert Sewell - Posh baddie who beds all the chicks
Rebecca Ferguson - hot older woman who fights a lot
Eddie Marsan - cockney geezer when Ray Winston is too busy or too old

Great minds think alike. Add Tom Cruise and it's almost complete, bar a few dozen or so. :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Kevin Alejandro. He played a blithering fucking idiot in Lucifer & now he's playing the same part in Fire Country (A truly abysmal series about forestry fire fighters in Calizuela)

Mark Rylance, when you need a man who can appear quiet and innocent as a mouse, and yet have dirty hidden secrets.

Anyone seen "The Outfit" yet?

Toby Jones - much as I like him - if you want a world-weary but still vaguely optimistic, decent, Mr Everyman with determined streak.
