Need to get this sucky thing off!!
But seriously, phone holder on the windscreen. I’m never just sticking a new one on a screen!! Well maybe if it’s my car!! But I bought it to use in different vehicles. But can’t get the bastard thing off
Any ideas? I have ‘released’ the lever but the sucky thing refuses to come off HELP!!

Take it you've pulled the wee tab? Failing that, credit card slid under the rubber, you might have to get a bit forceful with it.
Or hot water poured on the outside of the windscreen where its attached.

Dammit!! Forgot about heat!!
I’ll have a go with a card in a bit. Being LHD it’s not so easy to get my left arm to it with any force, and at that angle the right doesn’t have any
I stupidly stuck it too low, so not only do I need to be able to transfer it to other vehicles, I can’t fit a coffee cup in the holder

Gently pulling the little tab should let some air in and make it drop off, was there a lever you pushed to make it stick?

We must all be getting old and boring.
Back in the old days there'd have been dozens of smutty replies about the thread title.

A Stanley knife blade inserted at a 20 degree (ish) angle should slide between window glass and suction cup and break the seal.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Got an airline handy? Blast a jet of air between the cup and glass, failing that, a small thin screwdriver carefully pushed in to release the vacuum.

Has Noggin lost all her fingers and suffered multiple lacerations from a freakish accident with an exploding windscreen yet?

Re: Need to get this sucky thing off!!
I was waiting to see, but I am sadly disappointed!! You are all old and boring
Not my vehicle
Yes to the little lever, nope to the little tab letting air out! It was proper stuck! Like sticky stuck, not just sucky stuck!!
Yup - just lil old me! Peeled the plastic off it and stuck it to the screen!!! Not convinced it is just vacuum, so the tab doesn't break a seal as such, but the card thing worked
It has been in the past! Luckily I didn't have one to hand And no shops open to stock up on dangerous implements! Anyway - your original suggestion worked, I used a couple of the work cards cos they are plastic and I didn't have anything credit card like in my purse that I could risk breaking!!
So, now I know how to get it off, I can, and I have all my fingers and no new damage to me

Re: Need to get this sucky thing off!!
All the ones i have had had a little lever you pushed to release the suction then pull that little tab. See this one says lock on the middle lever.

Re: Need to get this sucky thing off!!
LOL I've had some like that, this one is the total opposite!!
This has that, but the base is proper sticky. Usually the ones I've had have been plastic and rely on the suction bit to keep them in place (so a lot fall off, as above!!). This one is full on proper sticky!! Better than the falling off ones, well, now I know how to get it off the screen!!Felix wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 10:00 pm All the ones i have had had a little lever you pushed to release the suction then pull that little tab.
