Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
My parents sorted all that stuff out when I was 16/17.
I'm pretty sure one year £125 was paid to insure my NS125R.
The most I ever paid was for the brand new R6.
I went to buy a 2nd hand one, got a quote for £600. When I got to the shop they'd sold it, so I bought a brand new one... the quote jumped up to £800!!!
I currently pay £85 to insure my Guzzi, £75 to insure the Bullet and £65 to insure the Pug Vox 110.
All via quidco with at least £10 cash back on the policies

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
My moped was brand new with free insurance, cheaper that way.
My first 'proper' bike was about £750.
At the moment I insure three bikes on a group policy for £150

Back in 2002 or so I had a Honda NC35 RVF400
Fully comp, £1400. Crashed it and claimed in that year. Never did that again.

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
Cant exactly remember my first 125 at 17, i think about 100 quid TPFT for a GS125 on L plates
The one i do remember was as a 21 year old brand new license holder (ie 3 days with zero no claims as i had been riding around without any for years) just starting as a bike courier. 600 quid BMW R65 heap of shite and they wanted 500 quid off me for 6 months TPO with business use as a courier who were ranked second to Kamikaze pilots in the risk stakes
Currently pay about £250 quid fully comp and instructor use on the Multistrada and 200 for the Fazer as its got sod all no claims on that policy. Will shop around for a multi bike next year and combine the 2

I think I paid about £28.00 Fully Comp rider policy up to 100cc with NU for my FS1E in 1980.

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
Can't remember for the KH100.
I think my TZR125 was something like £300 TPFT back in 95, and my first proper bike my TZR250 was something like £6 or 800 quid and the bike cost me £1500 I think, or maybe a bit less.

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
It was fully comp on a Suzuki T250 in 1972,but I don't recall the cost.
What I do remember was the fact I managed to load my premium by 400% in a very short space of time!

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
About £500 for fully comp on an ER-5 around 2008. I thought that was pretty good for a first bike, what with it being such a focused sports machine...
Around 3 years later, a 2001 Blade was about £200!

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
Errm. 2006 it was around £150 for the FJ1200 I think. Cheap as chips for a 0 NCB, third party only. Currently about the same for a K1200R with years of NCB and fully comp. I'm not complaining, I've had it pretty good. The K1200R is cheaper to insure than the NC700X DCT was.... ah well.

Re: How Much Was Your First Bike Insurance?
Bearing in mind it was in 1976, no internet/email/mobiles etc, no idea.
Soon as passed test was on NU's 'unlimted' plan, basicly ride any bike for a set price, no limits. Cost me about £99 i believe!

I should imagine the profession helps with the risk weighting they give you somewhatthe_priest wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:08 am Errm. 2006 it was around £150 for the FJ1200 I think.
