My bestest Sunday mornings were on the KTM390 Duke. So, one of those. And some MTM leathers with the spare cash (well, maybe, no idea if the 390's are still the same sort of price as they used to be! Might have to be a new lid instead!! LOL)

Would be freaking awesome around here :D :D

If I lived in the middle of nowhere/countryside and there was plenty of trails, probably a KLX250 or a CRF300.

As a road bike, I'd buy my Bullet 500 again and spend the rest on drugs and hookers.

My first choice would be a first Gen. tuono factory with the Ohlins and carbon and stuff, second choice would be a SD, this one is lovely

Have you seen Bullet wanderer on YT?
I've never ridden a Enfield single but it looks enjoyable watching him touring at a sedate pace on his Enfield

Just had a look, same B5 model as mine, it's even the same dark green colour. I love mine.

For me it would be something along the lines of an older GSXR 1000 or 750. Maybe even try and get a K5/6 thou and enjoy that.

YOu said we've got £5000.... not "what should i buy for £5000"

I wouldn't expect you to like any of our suggestions in fairness...

If i were you buying it... I'm going semi-hipster for you

Yeah, I was interested in what other people would choose, and I thought it might give me some pointers in directions I hadn't thought about.

I like the look of the trumpet, but if I was going in that direction I'd probably get another RE 650, that was a cracking bike for five grand.
Yeah i could go with one of those for you too.... Especially with a few tweaks.

If you enjoyed the RE 650 try a 865 Bonnie or a W800 Kawasaki

Is the right answer.

Either a very early one (06-08) with the sharp geometry. Or an R with it's longer rear shock designed to mimmic the early frames.

No argument here. I am currently looking at another one myself.

Problem is @Potter , it hits your requirements right on the head. Sunday morning hooning about, it will not serve any other purpose. It was the most single minded machine I have ever owned, I got mine with four owners and 1,900 miles on the clock!

Soon as I rode it, it was obvious why. It's not a transport device, it is more like a test or more precisely, a workout. The 2011 version is the most insane version, all titanium top end etc.

But we digress. I just spent the last hour flicking through an old thread "KTM Super 990R first ride" . 20 pages of mayhem as I had the disastrous fuelling remapped to perfection.

Précis on the bike: Hated it. Loved it. Hated it. Loved it. Loved it. Sold it.

Since I could theoretically buy any bike I want now, it made my list of potential extravagances but it would literally only ever be for the occasional blast. It is a demon bike. Only a confirmed lunatic would want to own one and while it is unquestionably the perfect machine for really shredding tarmac and destroying roads, working out your aggression etc., it is too highly strung and too single minded.

Image

Damn. I'd lust LOVE to have a go on one right now though...

My current fancy is a BMW Boxer Cup but may struggle sub-5k, so possibly an R1100S.

Keep getting drawn to the R-E GT650 or Interceptor 650, guy across the road has just sold Triumph Street Twin and that also sparked an interest.

A Sunday morning bike isn't anything sporty for me anymore, just something to jump on and have a plod around the country roads. Next door has a Panigale as his Sunday morning ride, far too focused and all he seems to do is go to a breakfast meet on it.
